Sublime and Beautiful Sunday Sunrises over the pier

Sublime and Beautiful Sunday Sunrises over the pier

Thanks again for all the prayers and positive energy for our Daughter In Law, yesterday they were able to take her off the sedation and remove the ventilator, as at when we left the hopsital last evening she was starting to wake up and open her eyes but was still pretty drozzy, so a step in the right direction and lets ghope today is a better day for her

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

Good Morning and I hope your weekend is going well

Today I will share a few shots of subjects that are perhaps my favorites, sunrises and especially sunrises over the water with a bonus with a pier in shot.

Now someone recently asked me what settings I use on my camera, and that of course depends on time of day and what I am takingphotos of, but as early morning shots and what I do mostly lets start there

I shoot in Aperture priority mode.
and what is that you may ask

Aperture Priority mode (A/Av) is a semi-automatic camera setting where you control the lens aperture (f-number) to dictate depth of field (how much is in focus), and the camera automatically sets the shutter speed for a correct exposure, letting you focus on creative depth and freezing motion without manually setting all three exposure triangle elements. It's great for portraits (blurry backgrounds with wide apertures like f/1.8), something admittedly I do not do, or landscapes (everything sharp with narrow apertures like f/16).

And I generally find starting with an aperture of F11 is what I go for, in fact I think all the shots I will share today were shot at F11.

If I am doing light painting then I will switch to manual mode and adjust settings based on the light or lack of it and know roughly how long I can to keep the shutter open.

IF trying to capture birds, particularly in flight, then I will use Shutter priority mode to have a fast exposure to try and freeze the birds in flight, but thinking about it I don't think I did any bird photography this year.

And lastly, I pretty much always shoot in Raw mode, which means the camera does not do any processing. I prefer to do the editing myself on the computer

The exception to that would be if taking photos of a parade, when I shoot in JPG mode where the camera does some editing and I do quick tweaks on the computer

After that waffling intro, let's get to today's photos

this first shot is right by when I park the car when I visit this spot and the morning I took this we got some lovely warm colors

and since I talked about light painting earlier, i decided to include one, the white line on the horizon is as a boat went by during the long exposure

And that’s all folks

I use the f/11 aperture a lot because it offers a wealth of photographic possibilities that I find very satisfying. The photos are fantastic, as always.

And about your daughter-in-law, we're so happy with her improved health! Hugs to her and to all of you in the family!

That's interesting! Raw mode is the only way to go, I just wish most cell phones would come that way. I hate the auto processors on those cameras, I prefer the old fashioned raw images. Then you tweak them yourself!

I love that first shot, such a nice sunrise. And that light painting is impressive all along the dock!

LOVER it.
F11 is great. I love the you run up the exposure... it really does give a bit of a silky texture to water... and that cool effect of the rotating light? nicely done

That is such wonderful news about your daughter-in-law! A huge relief and a definite step in the right direction. Sending continued positive thoughts her way for a smooth and full recovery. Your sunrise photos are, as always, absolutely sublime. The warm colors in that first shot are breathtaking, and the light painting with the boat's trail is a fantastic creative touch.
