Fun Friday Light painting at the fort

Fun Friday Light painting at the fort

I still havent got out and done any new light painting but I still have some from last year I was quite happy with and will share today

These were all taken in Fort Taber Park, South Rodney French Boulevard, New Bedford, MA, and aat various spots around old Fort Rodman

So what is light painting let me try to explain, actually let me cheat and copy and paste how I explained it in a previous post and was happy with it lOL

Light painting is basically photography’s rebellious cousin who skipped art school and went straight to rave school. Instead of brushes and canvas, you use flashlights, sparklers, glow sticks, or anything that creates light
You set your camera on a tripod, open the shutter for a few seconds or minutes, and then whoosh, you draw in the air with light. The camera sees all the glowing trails and goes, “Oh, cool, I’ll just record that like it’s normal.” And voilà—you’ve got a photo that hopefully you think is cool .

It’s like finger painting, but for grown-ups who still believe in magic or for grown ups who are still kids at art and like to have fun.

Or possibly more likely in my case, for someone like me with no artistic ability who thinks doing these is perhaps the best art I will ever do lOL

I have three different light painting torches one of each of the models a company called Ants on a melon have released the RGB Critter, Rgb Critter 2 and RGB critter BT
they all can be controlled to flash lights in different colors and patterns.

I have charged thenm up ready to go, but it still hasnt been warm enough in the early morning for me to get out with them

I do find the fort makes a cool backdrop for light painting, that said I do also do light painting in other spots in the park and may share some from other spots in a future post
