theHunter: Call of the Wild – A Journey Through Parque Fernando

Hello and welcome back to my blog!

I played theHunter: Call of the Wild in Parque Fernando, a map which I rarely play, and want to share my experience of it with some shots that I took during my session. It was better than I expected.

Park Fernando is a DLC map which I purchased a long time ago, but never paid much attention to it. Mostly because there are no animals that I liked to hunt in that map other than the gorgeous Red Deer. But those deer are found in many other reserves in the game.

It has a lot of grasslands, perfect for hunting with a long-range rifle. These are filled with shrubs, which can help the hunters hide and stay undetected for long, so you can hopefully get that diamond red deer.

I noticed dried river channels filled with curved rocks. It makes sense because this map has a lot of water bodies on all sides. These streams end up in big lakes.

Talking about the water bodies, this makes has one of the biggest animals you can hunt, the water buffalo. These are found near the lakes and swamp areas in this map, and one of the fun animals to hunt. They are fast but not as fast as some other animals, and they charge at you, so it gets interesting hunting these.

The lakes on the eastern edge of the map are huge. They form a natural border in this park. I love the way some of the trees are standing tall, even inside the water.

The dead tree branches lying on the shore are an interesting detail. The foliage in this game is well done. Although these branches don't seem to interact with the player, a lot of grass and shrubs do.

Talking about animals to hunt here, there is a star predator which is very underrated in this game. And as far as I know, it is found only here. I am talking about Puma. They are skittish and hide well in the grasses here. Very hard to spot and track, let alone hunt them.

This is the first puma I ever hunted in this map. I have hunted a lot of them in the Silver Ridge Peaks map, where these are called mountain lions.

One of the unique things about this reserve is its practice ranges. You can go and practice your bow or shooting skills with those. A good way to see how the bullet/bow trajectory is affected by distance and wind conditions in this game.

I learned to shoot the hard way, but for anyone who is looking to get themselves familiar with new weapons and a range, it is better to go to one of these ranges and practice.

The outposts in these reserves are fine too. Some of them are small, like a cabin in the woods, while others, especially the starter one, a big structures with a fancy bed to rest. I think because this park is being used for vacations as well.

This is not my favourite reserve because of a lack of saturation and a good population of animals. It was a pain hunting in the dense part of the reserve. Maybe some of it is my fault for not having a HUD on, but despite that, I am not a big fan of this reserve. But I can see myself coming back here just for the exciting water buffalo hunts and swamp areas.

Let me know your thoughts about it.

Thanks for reading...

Until next shot...

I love those meadows with their almost endless views. The part with the purple flowers is beautiful. In my case, I would stay practising at the shooting range; I would be incapable of shooting an animal with that degree of realism. The face of that dead puma makes me feel terribly sorry for it... I think if I played this game, I wouldn't last very long alive, ha ha ha. By the way, what happens if an animal catches you? Do you have to start the game from the beginning, or are there levels where your progress is saved? I'd also like to know if the reserves are virtual copies of real ones or if they're completely fictional. In any case, the views are like postcards, very beautiful. Definitely a different and entertaining way to get to know nature.

Don't feel bad for them, they are just pixels hehe. (From the culture I come from, we have been advised to even feed insects like ants, let alone hurt innocent animals)

If an animal notices you, it tries to run away almost all the time. Even big animals like Lions try to flee, but when they are cornered or feel too threatened, they jump on you or, in the case of buffalo, try to hit you with their head. The game features contact damage, so if it comes into contact with you, it will inflict forces that drain your health and potentially cause death. It respawns you at the nearest safe house. But thankfully, all your progress is saved. Even the animals you killed stay on the ground to be harvested after your death.

These reserves are based on popular biomes in specific areas. There is one based in Spain as well. You can hunt the animals in their native environment and know more about them. For example, there is one based on Nepal set in the Himalayas. They feel like the real landscapes. I have been to the Himalayas a few times, and the game really captured the beauty of it. I can't tell you how accurate other maps are, but other players say it is not too far from real places.

I have learned a lot about these places and the animals that live in those places just by playing this game. There is a catalogue of all the information about a specific species, on what they like, how good their senses are, etc. It is a good way to learn for sure.

Thank you for the support. !LUV

Yeah I know they’re pixels but look so real! Wow, so the game is faithful even in the reactions of the animals, what a blast. The normal thing is that they always flee. It's very good that progress is preserved, I hate seeing a "game over" and having to start over. I have looked for the reserve of Spain and it seems very well done from what players here think. Learning by playing is the best.

The views in that hunting game are really very good, I really enjoy those types of games where you can go on your own and walk around the settings as you like.
