Weekend Engagement - Animal Characteristics - The Owl's Wisdom

In this weekend, I look at a particular characteristic in an animal that I would like to have. After some thought, I will be coming from my favourite animal, the owl and the characteristic will be an owl's wisdom.

Liking for Owl
Before I dive into why I would like to have an owl's wisdom, I would like to share why do I like the owl. It all started with me being always up late, with seemingly nocturnal behaviour where my mind functions the best late at night. Many difficult school assignments or work assignments somehow got cleared late at night instead of earlier parts of the day. And therefore many of my peers including my wife calls me an owl and bring me many overseas souvenir owls. On top of that, owls look cute especially with that big pair of eyes and the feathery body.

Owl's Wisdom (Based on its Traits)
As we grow up, owls are often associated with wisdom and knowledge seen on books, cartoons and movies, with the likes of Hedwig and The Owl in Winnie the Pooh. Why is this so? The nocturnal nature of the owl depicts their ability to navigate and hunt in darkness, which translates to their ability of looking through ignorance and gaining insights in difficult conditions. Owls are also known for their exceptional hearing and vision, which gives strong depth perception in low light and ability to locate their prey with precise accuracy, which translates to observant, perceptive and accurate assessment. Lastly will be owl's ability for silent flight, which depicts a trait of quiet and thoughtful approach.

Therefore, owl's wisdom in summary will be:

• Looking through ignorance
• Gaining insight in difficult conditions
• Observant and accurate assessment
• Quiet and thoughtful

Even one of my fridge magnet of an owl given from a friend shared a bible wise on being wise and keeping our heart on the right path.

Why Do I Want Owl's Wisdom?
The society in today's world is becoming more treacherous. There is an upsurge of scammers and people scheming against one another, especially in the workplace. Take my workplace for example, while we are ought to be working together for the greater good of the company, people are withholding information from one another so as to not let other department have advantage over one another. But bottomline is, if more information is shared, workplace would have been more efficient. There are also many instances of people telling lies to get around situation which led to catastrophic profit losses when uncovered. There are also times we meet technical hurdles in our product development and we just lack the wisdom or insights to help us cross that hurdle. And in the portion of scammers, there are just too many out there that we need the insight and wisdom to discern whether they are scammers or not.
