This is for the D&D nerds out there or maybe @askrafiki can help me out. I'm playing a Sorcerer on D&D 5e and I picked up the Heightened spell Metamagic, which allows me to impose disadvantage on saving throws whn casting a spell with that Metamagic. However, I recently obtained a Shadowfell Shard, which reads:
When you use a Metamagic option on a spell while you are holding or wearing the shard, you can momentarily curse one creature targeted by the spell; choose one ability score, and until the end of your next turn, the creature has disadvantage on ability checks and saving throws that use that ability.
Now, Heightened spell feels obsolete as I can use any other Metamagic and still get the same effect. Or am I missing something here?
Heightened Spell specifies a saving throw (e.g., for fireball, it's Dex), imposing disadvantage only on that save. Shadowfell Shard lets you pick any ability (Str, Dex, Con, etc.) for disadvantage on both checks and saves using it—until end of your next turn.
Stacking: Yes, both can apply together on the same spell/target if using Heightened + another Metamagic (Shard triggers on any Metamagic). Heightened isn't obsolete; it adds targeted save debuff beyond Shard's broader but temporary curse.
For broad coverage (e.g., Con saves/checks), Shard shines solo. For specific spell saves, Heightened remains key. Both? Double dip for clutch plays. (PHB/TACT)

Drops of God S02E01 just dropped few days ago and honestly nobody asked for this sequel but here we are 🍷 the first season ended perfectly with Camille and Issei finally getting closure after that crazy wine competition, but apparently dead daddy Alexandre Leger left another letter because one season of mind games was not enough for everyone involved, the episode tries to switch from high energy wine battles to this slow burn mystery vibe and I cannot decide if that is smart or just lazy writing 😤 Issei is out here free diving in Okinawa looking gorgeous but also super depressed even though he won half the estate, those underwater shots are beautiful but they take forever to get anywhere with the actual story ➡️ #linkinthecomments
overall this premiere looks expensive as hell with those Okinawa shots and the acting is solid 🌊 but the show is trying to be two different things at once and those vibes are fighting each other hard, the journalist interview where Camille gets told she is just living in her father shadow was predictable but you could see how much it hurt her even though she tried to play it cool 😔 giving this season a few more episodes to see if the mystery pays off but right now I am not totally sold on this treasure hunt format after season 1 gave us such a perfect ending that did not need a sequel, classic 7 out of 10 for now
best part is when Camille finally shows up at the hospital after Issei nearly kills himself diving into a cave at 17 meters deep ⚕️ she agrees to join the hunt not because she cares about the wine or her father but because she does not want her brother to die chasing ghosts, that actually felt like real character growth for her and sets up this buddy cop dynamic that could be interesting if they do not screw it up 🤝 the chemistry between these two actors is still fantastic and probably the main reason to keep watching even when the plot feels like it is spinning its wheels trying to justify another season
the detective work turns into this video game fetch quest 🎮 Issei runs around talking to lawyers and auctioneers and old Spanish families and some lady with dementia in Marseilles, it feels like a side mission more than the intense wine drama we signed up for, the pacing just drags when it should be picking up speed, also Issei almost drowns twice in one episode trying to get clues and that is getting old real fast, yeah we get it he is desperate and looking for meaning but are we really going to watch him black out underwater every week because that sounds exhausting 😩 the free diving worked as a metaphor once but repeating it makes it feel cheap
the whole unlabeled bottle mystery flips everything we knew from season 1 🔄 Camille cannot taste anything from this perfect wine while Issei suddenly gets visions of floating in the ocean, that role reversal could have been cool to watch but then Camille pours the rest of this priceless wine down the damn sink like a child throwing a tantrum 💀 I get she wants to reject her father controlling her from beyond the grave but come on, that bottle could be the key to everything and you just trash it because you are annoyed at a dead man who cannot even respond anymore, feels wasteful and immature honestly

I'm playing a Sorcerer on D&D 5e and I picked up the Heightened spell Metamagic, which allows me to impose disadvantage on saving throws whn casting a spell with that Metamagic. However, I recently obtained a Shadowfell Shard, which reads:

Drops of God S02E01 just dropped few days ago and honestly nobody asked for this sequel but here we are 🍷 the first season ended perfectly with Camille and Issei finally getting closure after that crazy wine competition, but apparently dead daddy Alexandre Leger left another letter because one season of mind games was not enough for everyone involved, the episode tries to switch from high energy wine battles to this slow burn mystery vibe and I cannot decide if that is smart or just lazy writing 😤 Issei is out here free diving in Okinawa looking gorgeous but also super depressed even though he won half the estate, those underwater shots are beautiful but they take forever to get anywhere with the actual story ➡️ #linkinthecomments

overall this premiere looks expensive as hell with those Okinawa shots and the acting is solid 🌊 but the show is trying to be two different things at once and those vibes are fighting each other hard, the journalist interview where Camille gets told she is just living in her father shadow was predictable but you could see how much it hurt her even though she tried to play it cool 😔 giving this season a few more episodes to see if the mystery pays off but right now I am not totally sold on this treasure hunt format after season 1 gave us such a perfect ending that did not need a sequel, classic 7 out of 10 for now

best part is when Camille finally shows up at the hospital after Issei nearly kills himself diving into a cave at 17 meters deep ⚕️ she agrees to join the hunt not because she cares about the wine or her father but because she does not want her brother to die chasing ghosts, that actually felt like real character growth for her and sets up this buddy cop dynamic that could be interesting if they do not screw it up 🤝 the chemistry between these two actors is still fantastic and probably the main reason to keep watching even when the plot feels like it is spinning its wheels trying to justify another season

the detective work turns into this video game fetch quest 🎮 Issei runs around talking to lawyers and auctioneers and old Spanish families and some lady with dementia in Marseilles, it feels like a side mission more than the intense wine drama we signed up for, the pacing just drags when it should be picking up speed, also Issei almost drowns twice in one episode trying to get clues and that is getting old real fast, yeah we get it he is desperate and looking for meaning but are we really going to watch him black out underwater every week because that sounds exhausting 😩 the free diving worked as a metaphor once but repeating it makes it feel cheap
