Job Growth Numbers Take a Big Hit in New Report

Remember all the talk about how many jobs the US economy was creating? Turns out, those figures were pumped up quite a bit. Fresh data from the government reveals that job additions in recent years fell way short of what we first heard, and it's got folks rethinking the whole story.
Back on February 11, 2026, the Bureau of Labor Statistics dropped their annual revisions in Washington. For 2025, they now say employers added just 181,000 jobs across the country.
That's a huge slash from the original estimate of 584,000, we're talking about 403,000 fewer positions than expected. Even 2024 took a hit, with job growth cut by nearly 600,000, or about 28 percent lower.
Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve Chair, had hinted at this overstatement a while back, saying the numbers might be off by around 60,000 per month.
This isn't just some minor tweak. These changes show the labor market was stumbling more than we realized, especially outside healthcare where things barely moved. From March 2024 to March 2025, the revisions wiped out 862,000 jobs in total.
That's the largest percentage drop since 2009, right after the big recession. Unemployment sits at 4.3 percent now, and while January 2026 brought in 130,000 new jobs, that's against a backdrop of last year's near standstill.

Big miss on non-farm payrolls + revisions down —feels like the soft landing narrative just took a serious punch.markets gonna be choppy tomorrow, especially if Fed starts whispering "higher for longer" again.
You think this is the start of real weakness showing up, or just another blip before the next pump?
Solid share man, always good to see the raw data without the spin
