5 minute freewrite Thursday prompt row boat

Today when I went to run the crab traps I took my metal detector with me. My Son did not want to go so I went alone. First I went to the place where I saw the old washing machine and old bathroom sink. I was hoping that in the past someone might have lived there.

I did not walk far and had a hit.

It is always exciting when I am using the pinpointer and wondering what I am about to discover.

It is also disappointing when I pull up a rope with a lead on it. It came from a crab trap, we put a lead on the rope about 2 and 1/2 feet down the rope from the buoy. This way it holds the rope down so boats can not hit the rope when coming close to the buoy.

The only other thing I found was a chunk of metal, I and not sure what it came from.

I spent about an hour walking around metal detecting and all I found were glass bottles with metal caps, beer cans, and a chunk of metal. I think I would have found more if someone would have lived there.

Next, I went to the Indian mound but the tide was too high to get overboard and dig for relics so I went into the back of the big cove and shut my motor off using my boat as a row boat I went along the shoreline looking for a place that did not look too woodsy. I found a spot that opened up enough to walk into the woods.

I found an old beer can.

I have never seen a bottle cap that only said Florida, I wish I would have saved it, but I put it back in the hole and buried it.

The weather looked like we were going to get a thunderstorm and I still had the crab traps to run so I went back to the boat. I ran the crab traps and only got 12 crabs.
