5 minute freewrite 2843 prompt My Latest mutation

This is my post for #freewriters 2843 prompt My Latest mutation hosted by @mariannewst.

I told the man he was crazy, but he went anyway. He said he wanted to catch bait today and keep them under Charlie's dock and fish around here on Friday. I reminded him It is Labor Day weekend, his responce was, "that is not until Monday." I am sure I will hear all about how many boats were out there when he gets home tomorrow.

I am terrible for not taking before pictures. My Latest mutation is the corner of our driveway. The wax myrtle trees had gotten too tall, they were shading an area where I wanted more sun for my pineapples and desert roses.

Weidelia had taken everything over. I would bet if we did not try to keep it under control, it would cover every tree plant and building on our property and then spread to the neighborhood.

We have weed matt under all these weeds, I guess it is now a true "weed" matt. We have not used it for several years and i let it get covered, so now, I have been pulling all of the weeds from it.

After I get all of the weeds pulled, I will need to shovel the 5 or 6 inches of dirt on top of the weed matt. This entire thing started by wanting more sun and cutting 2 wax mrytle trees down it lead to a major clearing/cleaning project.

I cleaned around the mrytles and palmettos and it looked nice, so I cleaned a little further, then a little more. Now I have worked my way across the entire area.

I have several different types of bromeliads, I think I will plant then under the trees, but I am going to wait a couple of weeks so i can make sure none of the weidelia comes back from underground roots.

They had their trout meeting yesterday and the only thing discussed was doing something about pig fish traps. That is how we catch our trout bait. The sportfishermen asked the State to make trout hook and release only, but our friend who was there said he does not think they will do that. They are holding another meeting Sept 15.
