5 minute freewrite 2832 prompt broken system
This is my post for #freewriters 2832 prompt broken system hosted by @mariannewest
I am not worried about the category 5 hurricane spinning to the east of us. What I do worry about is that this storm went from a category 1 hurricane with 75 mph winds to a category 5 with 160 mph winds in just over a day. It broke the record for the fastest growing storm.
Think about that for a minute or two. Depending on timing, you could go to bed thinking the next day you will be hit with a cat 1 storm, but wake to news that it has grown and within hours, you are on the road, trapped in traffic with a cat 5 storm hours away.
What would happen if the weather service announced a storm like this was headed our way, and then they announced they have a broken system and do not know how strong the storm is going to be or where it will make landfall?
If this was to happen, I would not stay in this trailer, or try to leave by car, I would go to a friend's house that is built from brick, but if a tornado hits, that would not be safe either. All we can do is pray.
The good thing with this storm is that it has built a swell, so my husband wants to look for snadfleas tomorrow. I want to go, but I have a doctor's appointment. If he will come home early, I could help because my app is in the afternoon.
a swell is the size of the wave in the ocean

The wildfire season is getting worse here in the Pacific Northwest. Smoke hasn't been too severe yet, but I know people who have had to evacuate due to the approaching infernos. I don't miss the tornado-spawning thunderstorms of the midwest, and I have no idea what it's like to live in hurricane country.
I would rather deal with a hurricane than wildfires. Hurricanes have tornadoes in them, but they are not like the ones up north, but they still do damage. Last year was the most damaging year I have ever seen from tornadoes in Fl.
