MicroFiction: A 250 word story format that I often utilize to address the daily prompts. The story today is written using the word prompt "I'm not your maid".

...Frustrated. You can become so when an individual has certain tasks they are required to complete or do them of them of their free will. It's the extra jobs they are asked to do that can make people feel unappreciated. This is true, especially when others don't show appreciation by words or deeds.

For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized the @daily.prompt's publishing of 8 March 2026, Freewriters Community Daily Writing Prompt Day 3036: I’m not your maid!; and

3 March 2026, Freewriters Community Daily Writing Prompt Day 3031: not representative of the facts.

Below is my story:

Janet halted upon hearing her name. Standing transfixed behind the wall leading to the break room, her nose flared as she listened to her supervisor, Marvin Jansen's, comment. "Leave it. Janet will wipe that spill. She's more good at that than her actual job."

Janet turned and bolted around the corner, almost tumbling her co-worker, Alina.

"What's wrong? You look like you're about to strangle someone!" Alina whispered, straightening her outfit.

"I'll explain later."

For several days, Janet fumed. Then, Jansen called. "You've got fifteen minutes if you want your annual review. I've another meeting in thirty.

"You must have misread your calendar. Our appointment is later this afternoon," Janet corrected.

"YOU must have wrote it wrong again," Jansen hissed.

Sitting stiff in the Human Resources office, beads of sweat formed on her upper lip. She'd all the documentation. Still, she knew that management sides with management the majority of the time.

No different this time. She left the office with a formal reprimand in hand, but her head held high.

As she entered the elevator, Marvin stepped aside, trying not to notice her fiery eyes and heaving shoulders.

She turned. "You've won. For now. I've resigned, but you'll regret it. First, I'm not your maid. Second, the version I left with management is the truth. Stating it's not representative of the facts is a bald faced lie. Both you and I know this. But, as my grandmother always said, "everything comes to she who waits."

"And I'm extremely patient!"

Microficción: un formato de relato de 250 palabras que utilizo a menudo para abordar los temas diarios. La historia de hoy está escrita utilizando la palabra clave «No soy tu criada».

...Frustrada. Uno puede sentirse así cuando una persona tiene ciertas tareas que debe completar o las realiza por voluntad propia. Son las tareas adicionales que se le piden las que pueden hacer que la gente se sienta poco apreciada. Esto es cierto, especialmente cuando los demás no muestran su agradecimiento con palabras o acciones.
