Vaccines, Fear, and the Power of Misinformation
In today’s world, where medical advancements have made it possible to prevent some of the deadliest diseases in human history, it’s surprising and sometimes concerning how divided opinions around vaccinations can still be. For some, vaccines are a triumph of science, a shield protecting entire communities from harm. For others, they're a subject of skepticism, surrounded by swirling doubts and elaborate conspiracy theories.

This division isn’t scientific, and they can’t prove that the vaccination is not good; all they feel are just emotional, cultural, and often personal reasons. From social media threads to dinner table debates, the question of whether to vaccinate can spark passionate responses; an example is just like the time of the COVID-19 era. But why is something so grounded in research also the root of so much controversy? And what are some of the wildest, most eye-opening claims people believe about vaccines?
In this blog, I will be answering this question, and some of the things you will be reading might be an eye-opener for you, or they might just be something you already know. Let's dive in.
You might wonder, why is something so grounded in research, decades of testing, and millions of dollars spent still doubted and have so many roots of conspiracy in it? Well, one thing you should know about humans is that.
Humans will always fear what they don't know, and what they fear, they will always want to destroy, either with words or actions
Fashtioluwa 2025.
There have been so many conspiracies about the vaccine because of how scary the world has been. We have seen so many countries and scientists create a disease and spread it in another country, especially a third-world country, just so they can make the vaccine and sell it to the country and make millions from it.
People aren't as gullible as they used to be before, but even where there are evil people, you will surely find the good ones who want to help save humanity when humanity is faced with a world-destroying pandemic, like COVID-19.
Growing up, I remember how I used to get vaccinated in school and at my house. The government made it so easy for us to get this vaccine; people don't need to visit the hospital before they get vaccinated and this helped a lot of us grow up strong and healthy. I can say this is when the world was still a better place, when Michael Jackson was still alive.
Right now, people are scared because they have a lot of trust in the system and the world. I have once worked as a vaccine agent, and during this time we had to go house to house, to school and any place we know might have a child. While some place welcome us with open arms and allow us do our jobs, some people lied about having a child, some other people just hissed immediately they saw us.
As a person, I wasn't mad at any of the people I met while working because I was just like most of them during covid-19. I also refuse to get vaccinated because of the rumors I heard about the vaccine. I heard some people died after taking it, some fainted, others weren't the same. I even heard, it wasn't the original vaccine but a way to test it and see how it react to people.
So yeah, things like this can make people riddged and skeptical about allowing people to inject anything into their body. If people are scared and don't trust the process, then rumors are bound to come up, and people will be scared and create all sorts of conspiracies even about things that can save their lives.
Thanks for reading. My name is Fashtioluwa.
Honestly, I think a lot of us were skeptical at first, especially with how fast everything happened. But you're right, fear and rumors spread faster than facts sometimes
Yeah. I was skeptical too but I had to take it before going for nysc
you weren't even given a choice.
Yeahh that’s just the only reason, if I had a choice, I would have rejected it and who knows if it’s the vaccine that has helped me then
During COVID, I also didn’t want to take the vaccine because of all the scary things I was hearing. It was like everywhere you turned, someone had a new rumor. I love how you shared your own experience as a vaccine agent going from house to house and still being met with fear shows how deep the mistrust has become. But like you said, not everyone is bad. There are still good people who want to help. Honestly, we just need more real talk like this. It helps open minds.
Thanks for this warm comment. A lot of people won’t understand if someone who hasn’t experienced share their own story
That is why people need awareness
Very true
There is a lot of facts in this quote. When humans don't know something, they will get curious and try to understand that thing. If the thing proves difficult, they will want to destroy that thing.
Yeah. We have the notion of
Destroy it before it destroy us
It was a tough one during the covid-19 period.
However, it's important to make research on things we are not clear on before joining in the team of rumor carriers which is what we don't do.
This can actually be embarrassing 😔
Covid -19 should have a movie of its own.
And for the people who hissed, I wasn’t even angry, I just felt sorry for them because they would have to go to the hospital if anything happens to the child
😂 a movie indeed
Exactly.. that's just the bitter truth since they refused to accept it at their doorstep
😂😂 it is what it is
Everything new is scary! Many people were skeptical about the Covid vaccines because they were rushed and because of rumors of many people who had bad outcomes, as you mentioned.
Yeah
That’s is what happened with the covid vaccine
Anything new invention always come up with its rumor
Wow, thanks for sharing your story. Rumors, lies and all travel fast thereby leading to people getting trust issues and being misinformed. I guess that's why a lot of people are against vaccines. And the Internet as well, same way it's helping, false info are also found there ....
🥰🤗🥰
Yeah
It’s all just rumor and false information but one thing people know is that all rumor has a iota of truth in it
Huhm......you are right about that.
Reading this has reminded me of something. Right now, here in our country, they're giving out the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine to children under the age of 14 yrs. A friend of mine called me and we ended up talking about the vaccine and she said she was against it; her daughter will not take the vaccine. Maybe, just like you said, it's the fear of the unknown. All I could tell her was, God is a God of protection and nothing bad will happen to them children. To ease her mind, I told her that my son will take the vaccine. I might have no trust in the system, but I have trust in God to protect human kind.
Thank you for sharing😊. It's eye opening.
🤭🤭🤭. Awwwww
This was a sweet comment and I was just smiling while reading it.
Yeah, we need to be more open minded to this things, many of them are create to help us and sometimes when we refuse our children from this vaccines, they might be expose to danger
Haha, glad it made you smile🤭. I don't understand why people are against vaccines when we, ourselves, underwent the same and still turned out fine. The design we live in soo much is unexplainable. But what can we say, everyone is entitled to make decisions they see fit.
Yeah
People can do what they like in as much they have the will to do so
I don't really have anything against vaccines but i don't think i like taking them cause how we always like importing cheap and fake things especially whenever its an emergency
Hehehe
But you took it when you’re very little
In school and hospital
Didn’t you 🌚🌚
And i was traumatized. Never try it again
hehehe, sorry. But don't run away fom vaccines o@coolbabe88
I will try
