A Place I Dreamed About for Years, Finally Visited!

Happy Sunday Hivers!

Since I was young, I loved flipping through magazines, especially those with travel features. Back then, being an 80s baby meant growing up without smartphones or the internet. Most of the beautiful places I discovered were through magazines. We didn’t even have a TV at home, and I wasn’t the type who liked going to the neighbors’ houses just to watch.

One day, while browsing a magazine, I came across a feature about Camiguin. I clearly remember seeing a photo of White Sandbar for the first time. I was completely amazed. Even at that young age, the image left a strong impression on me, it was so beautiful that it instantly became a place I dreamed of visiting someday.

If I ever got bored listening to the teacher’s discussions in class, I would immediately grab a pen and a piece of paper and start writing the word “Camiguin” over and over again. Even back then, the name itself fascinated me.

As I grew older, that feeling never changed. My desire to visit Camiguin stayed the same. No matter how many years passed, it remained one of the places I truly wanted to see for myself someday.

When I finally started working and was able to travel using my own money, I tried many times to plan a trip to Camiguin. However, every attempt ended up being canceled for one reason or another.

Then one day, something unexpected happened, I finally got the chance to visit Camiguin, and the best part was that the trip was completely free. It felt surreal, as if the dream I had held onto since childhood had finally come true.

I was able to visit for free because our company decided to hold our team-building event in Camiguin. When the CEO informed me that I needed to prepare the costing for the team building in Camiguin, I was incredibly happy and excited.

After wanting to visit for such a long time, I finally had the chance to go there. It felt unreal that the place I had dreamed about since I was young was finally within reach.

However, when you are the main organizer of an event, you should expect to be extremely busy, especially when some committee members stop doing their part because they are already enjoying the trip. Since I was the HR, there was really no one else to take over the responsibilities but me.

Although we were able to visit several beautiful tourist spots, I barely had the chance to take photos because I was busy attending to many things. In fact, if my officemate hadn’t pulled me aside to take a quick picture, I probably wouldn’t have had any photos at all. By that time, I was already so tired from handling everything.

Although the trip was free, I honestly didn’t get to enjoy it. I wasn’t able to fully appreciate the breathtaking views because I was too busy managing everything. At that moment, I told myself that I would definitely come back to Camiguin someday.

Next time, I want to truly enjoy the moment—l, the place, the scenery, and everything it has to offer. Still, despite everything, I’m grateful that I was finally able to step foot in the place I had dreamed of visiting since I was a child.

By the way, the photos you see here were taken by my officemate, especially the drone shots.

Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
