Cuando los sueños se hacen realidad desde la necesidad -Leer la Oportunidad: Caso Venezuela- Reflexiones de Emprendimiento (ES/EN)
En mi país, Venezuela, la gente, por necesidad de subsistir ha tenido que emprender, iniciar un negocio; y según la investigación que realizó la Universidad Católica Andrés Bello y el IESA o Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración en Escuela de Negocios, el 91% de los emprendimientos del país están debido a eso y no a la oportunidad detectada, independientemente de la forma de ser del que emprende.
¿Qué características debe tener un emprendedor para poder llevar a sus sueños hasta la meta de hacerse realidad; o es simplemente adaptación?
Un vistazo al Caso Venezuela: Condiciones diferentes
El emprendedor venezolano, que son, alrededor de 4.7 millones de personas, según el informe presentado por la UCAB y el IESA, Monitor Global de Emprendimiento Venezuela 2022-2023 (GEM Venezuela), lo ha hecho por necesidad.
Y resalta que el 65% de ellos no tiene temor a fracasar; de hecho, el 91% de estos emprendedores cuya motivación es ganarse la vida, tiene, o nulo o bajo nivel tecnológico y, probablemente, no tengan ningún tipo de mecanismo de financiamiento.
Bien, esto implica que los seres humanos, en las diferentes condiciones bajo las cuales vive, utilizan como prioridad, la producción personal.
En realidad, según el Banco de Desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe (2024), Ecuador es el país de América Latina que tiene la mayor tasa de negocios establecidos; pero Venezuela está entre los 45 países estudiados, posicionado en el puesto número 7, (y con nula o poca financiación).
¿Atributos para emprender o necesidad forzada?
Y es, que, para ser emprendedor, los atributos principales son la capacidad para identificar oportunidades de negocio, sí; pero las oportunidades son detectadas, siempre y cuando estemos preparados para ello.
Así, según el estudio anterior que acabamos de nombrar, en Venezuela la mayoría de los que emprenden tiene niveles de estudios secundarios o universitarios, por lo que están preparados para detectar las oportunidades.
¿Lo hacen por necesidad? Tal vez sí, pero están preparados para leer la oportunidad.
Otras características del emprendedor son, que tiene alta tolerancia al riesgo y que tiene una gran capacidad para sacrificar, tanto su seguridad profesional como financiera, para desarrollar un proyecto o idea de negocio.
Pues, esto implica aprender a manejar el miedo y salir de lo que es, aparentemente seguro, para poder buscar solución a los desafíos que vive.
Por último, está el deseo de innovar en forma continua.
¿Se adaptan estas características del emprendedor a lo que son las características de un emprendimiento?
Lógicamente, porque un emprendimiento debe ser innovador, que tenga su tiempo para crecer, por lo tanto, el emprendedor debe armarse de paciencia; y que existan tomas de decisiones con determinación, por lo que debe manejarse el miedo.
Igualmente, adaptarse en forma flexible y siempre, enfocándose en crecer, es lo que muchos de los que escriben sobre emprendimientos llaman escalabilidad.
Aprendemos de reflexiones y términos…
En @beentrepreneur, todas las reflexiones que nos lleven a situarnos en el contexto que vivimos y a reforzar las características de la personalidad emprendedora, son bienvenidas.
Por ahora, te propongo, ante estas reflexiones anteriores con respecto al caso Venezuela, que aprendamos a detectar las oportunidades preparándonos, leyendo, hablando con aquellos que tienen empresas y experiencia, para que sepamos diferenciar entre lo que es una idea de negocio, que es un sueño no manifestado a nivel de la práctica, y lo que es aprovechar una oportunidad de emprender.
Identificar la oportunidad de un negocio requiere que tengamos una actitud abierta ante la lectura que podamos hacer sobre la realidad que se vive.
Recientemente, pude participar de una jornada en la que se otorgaron ayudas para la cría porcina a varios hogares de la zona en la que vivo, y muchos de ellos, que están en estos momentos emprendiendo en este renglón, son profesionales educadores, ingenieros y hay médicos también.
Es así, porque reconocieron la oportunidad y estuvieron abiertos a la posibilidad de adaptarse a los cambios correctos que debemos hacer, según la realidad geopolítica que vivimos.
When dreams come true out of necessity - Reading the Opportunity: The Case of Venezuela - Reflections on Entrepreneurship
In my country, Venezuela, people have had to become entrepreneurs and start businesses out of necessity in order to survive. According to research conducted by Andrés Bello Catholic University and IESA (Institute of Higher Studies in Administration at the School of Business), 91% of the country's entrepreneurial ventures are due to this necessity and not to an opportunity that was identified, regardless of the entrepreneur's personality.
What characteristics must an entrepreneur have in order to achieve their dreams and make them a reality, or is it simply a matter of adaptation?
A look at the Venezuelan case: Different conditions
Venezuelan entrepreneurs, who number around 4.7 million people according to the report presented by UCAB and IESA, Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Venezuela 2022-2023 (GEM Venezuela), have done so out of necessity.
It highlights that 65% of them are not afraid of failure; in fact, 91% of these entrepreneurs, whose motivation is to earn a living, have little or no technological expertise and probably do not have any kind of financing mechanism.
This implies that human beings, in the different conditions under which they live, prioritize personal production.
In fact, according to the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (2024), Ecuador is the Latin American country with the highest rate of established businesses, but Venezuela ranks seventh among the 45 countries studied (with little or no financing).
Attributes for entrepreneurship or forced necessity?
To be an entrepreneur, the main attributes are the ability to identify business opportunities, yes; but opportunities are detected only if we are prepared for them.
Thus, according to the study we just mentioned, in Venezuela, most entrepreneurs have secondary or university education, so they are prepared to detect opportunities.
Do they do it out of necessity? Perhaps, but they are prepared to recognize the opportunity.
Other characteristics of entrepreneurs are that they have a high tolerance for risk and a great capacity to sacrifice both their professional and financial security in order to develop a project or business idea.
This involves learning to manage fear and stepping outside of what is apparently safe in order to find solutions to the challenges they face.
Finally, there is the desire to innovate continuously.
Do these characteristics of entrepreneurs match the characteristics of a startup?
Logically, yes, because a startup must be innovative and have time to grow, so entrepreneurs must arm themselves with patience. They must also make decisions with determination, which means managing fear.
Similarly, adapting flexibly and always focusing on growth is what many who write about entrepreneurship call scalability.
We learn from reflections and terms...
At @beentrepreneur, we welcome all reflections that help us understand the context we live in and reinforce the characteristics of an entrepreneurial personality.
For now, in light of these previous reflections on the case of Venezuela, I propose that we learn to identify opportunities by preparing ourselves, reading, and talking to those who have businesses and experience, so that we know how to differentiate between a business idea, which is a dream that has not yet been put into practice, and taking advantage of an opportunity to become an entrepreneur.
Identifying a business opportunity requires us to have an open mind when reading about the reality we are experiencing.
Recently, I was able to participate in a workshop in which grants were awarded for pig farming to several households in the area where I live, and many of them, who are currently starting up in this field, are professionals, educators, engineers, and there are also doctors.
This is because they recognized the opportunity and were open to the possibility of adapting to the necessary changes we must make, given the geopolitical reality we are experiencing.

Las oportunidades de tener mejores vidas hace que uno busque emprender, una fase muy reciente recurrente es "prefiero quemarme los pulmones por lo mio que por lo de otro" y en esa frase hay mucha verdad.
Los sueños de prosperidad los tenemos todos, pero siempre hace falta esa convicción de arriesgarnos a sabiendas qué la balanza estará a un 50/50.
Cuando el esfuerzo es por un sueño propio, hasta el cansancio sabe diferente. El sacrificio deja de ser solo una carga y se convierte en una inversión en uno mismo. Mucho éxito en tu camino, estimada @issymarie2

I think your country has a lot in common with mine. Majority of us, Nigerians, also start businesses as a means to survive and achieve financial freedom.
Not many people can recognise opportunities, or have the ability to identify problems and provide solutions.

Buenos días @emiliorios. Las características económicas, sociales y laborales que presenta nuestro país en los últimos años ciertamente ha llevado a la población a buscar alternativas en los emprendimientos.
Son interesantes las cifras que nos muestras, pues es una constatación de lo que observamos diariamente a nuestro alrededor, personas que se arriesgan a invertir tiempo, dinero y esfuerzo y una capacidad altísima de resiliencia, quizás de lo que adolece nuestra población emprendedora es de su media-baja disposición para aprender y mejorar los procesos del emprendimiento, por lo general creemos que lo sabemos todo y eso también nos lleva a creer que basta con la buena intención para que las cosas funcionen.
