Hello everyone! Hope you all are doing amazing and welcome to another #Splinterlands post.
Alright so today I decided to do something a bit different, instead of just grinding ranked and talking about rewards, I wanted to focus on one specific card. And the card I picked is, Saltwraith Bulkhead. Not gonna lie I didnβt pay much attention to this card before. But today I actually used it properly.

So first thing first, just looking at the stats (Max Level i.e. 8):
Mana Cost: 7
Attack: 6 (which is actually kinda strong for a tank)
Health: 11 (!!)
Armor: 6
Speed: 4
At first glance, this is clearly a frontline tank, but not just a tank, more like a damage + tank hybrid. Usually tanks just sit there and absorb damage but this one actually hits HARD too.
Saltwraith Bulkhead is not just about stats, it has abilities that make it even more annoying to deal with.
Abilities:
Weary: At the beginning of round 1, Weary units have a 10% chance to become Exhausted. This chance increases by 10% every round, up to a maximum of 80%. Exhausted units skip their turn and cannot Retaliate.
Oppress: Deals double damage to no-attack targets, even those with Weapons Training.
Armored Strike: If armored, gains a melee attack that deals damage equal to remaining armor.
Heal: Each round, restores 1/3 of max health (rounded down).
Honestly, this is the kind of card that can control the entire front line. Like if this thing survives long enough it can carry the whole fight.

I also used it in a match recently. And I WON that match.

Going into the match, I wasnβt super confident because Gold level is tough. I placed Saltwraith Bulkhead in the front position. And built the rest of the team around it.

At the start, I was like okay letβs see if this works. Opponent had a decent lineup too. But the moment the fight started, I noticed something immediately. This card does NOT go down easily. Like seriouslyβ¦ it was just standing there, taking hits, and still surviving. And at the same time it was dealing solid damage back.

There was one moment where I thought okay now itβs done. But nope. It just kept surviving longer than expected. That gave my backline enough time to do their job. And eventually, Victory.

After actually playing with Saltwraith Bulkhead, I think this card is underrated. Like people might ignore it because itβs not flashy or super fast. But in the right setup itβs VERY strong. I feel like this card works best when you want a solid frontline tank, you need time for your backline to deal damage or youβre playing longer, slower matches.

Honestly, today was a good reminder that sometimes we ignore good cards just because we donβt use them. Saltwraith Bulkhead is not the flashiest card but it gets the job DONE. Iβll definitely try using it more in future matches. Maybe even test it in different rulesets.
Anyway, that was my card spotlight for today. Let me know if you guys have used this card before or if I just discovered something obvious late. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
I'll be back with another one soon. So do follow me if you want to stay updated. Till then, Stay Happy and Stay Hydrated.
