Splinterlands: Thoughts about Lux's Favor after one month

image.png
Almost a month ago, I talked about the new free daily Lux's Favor here. Once a day, you can spin the wheel for free, and all it gives is some cosmetics. These include skins for cards, and items you can add to your avatar. Some of which is done by purchasing them from the Spark Shop. As you check in more often, you can move up your tier and earn bonus sparks. Overall, I think it is a great feature as it is free, but as it is mostly cosmetic, it doesn't affect much.

Sparks and Shop

I got 11,233 Sparks after 30 days of showing up in a row (including the spin bonuses). If you discount the 5,000 bonus from reaching tier 3, it is only around 6k sparks. You don't earn many sparks at all, so I think the cosmetics will take a long time if you only have one account. So I don't think the cosmetics are that important, and you won't get many of them for showing up. I just treat it more as a bonus.

Battle Challenges

Overall, I think the battle challenges have been the best part of Lux's Favor. It's a great way to teach new players the game, and the challenges themselves are fun. It's just too bad that you have to spin them first, so it might take a long while before people can get these challenges. By then, the new players might not require them anymore. In the 30 spins so far, I have only gotten it twice.

Conclusion

I think the Lux's Favor is still a good addition to the game, but it is not as overwhelming as I thought it was when I first saw it. You can get cosmetics, but you can't unlock many of them as the amount of Sparks you get isn't very high. The best thing about the Spins is the battle challenges, but you have to spin them first. By then, the new players might not require that knowledge anymore.

What is your view of Lux's Favor so far?

To me it seems quite useless stuff, ok you add something to the game but just cosmetics without value, just for the sake of gamification

Yea. After a month, I think it just adds gamification and nice cosmetics, but its not enough to be much impact at all.

I think it's not good way to gamify user's experiences but there's nothing really creative or special about it that can change or influence the conviction of people towards the game.

It's not that much, but I guess it is at least something for the people who show up every day. Looking back, it is a bit underwhelming.
