Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Double Gladiators on both sides
Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game with interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. This week is about a great fight where I won because I was lucky, and I have to say a double gladiator fight in Brawls is amazing. I also won due to a small coincidence, and I have to say, it was a lucky play.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Explosive Weaponry and Odd Ones Out. This means that only odd mana monsters can be used and all monsters gain the blast ability. There is also 40 mana available, and I can use any splinter except for life.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Helios Matriarch | 6 | Summoner | +1 speed and gladiator |
Cruel Sethropod | 3 | 1st | |
Relenor Cleaver | 9 | 2nd | Bloodlust and Reach |
River Hellondale | 7 | 3rd | Inspire and Resurrect |
Venari Marksrat | 3 | 4th | Martyr |
Isgald Vorst | 5 | 5th | Bloodlust and Opportunity |
Swamp Spitter | 7 | 6th | Repair |
Total Mana: | 40 |
I use Helios Matriarch for the +1 speed and extra gladiator. Cruel Sethropod is my tank without any abilities. I didn't have much mana after putting 2 gladiators, so I went with whatever I could get so my next monster can be a bit safer. Then I have Relenor Cleaver as my backup tank with reach and bloodlust. River Hellondale is my 3rd monster with inspire and resurrect. My 4th monster is a martyr monster. Isgald Vorst is my 5th monster and my 2nd gladiator in this fight with opportunity and bloodlust. My last monster is Swamp Spitter with repair.
My strategy is to rely on the two gladiators to do most of the damage. The rest of my monsters are built to support these two monsters, as they are the strongest monsters in my lineup. Since there is blast from the ruleset, the bloodlust is more likely to land and deal plenty of damage against my opponent. I don't expect my monsters to survive too long, but they should do their best to delay the enemy so that my those strong monsters can land their attacks because once they stack bloodlust, they can be unstoppable.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that this match could go either way. My opponent has a level advantage over me, but I think my summoner's speed buff does help me make up for the level difference. It will depend on which of us is able to stack bloodlust as we are both using double gladiators.
Round 2
My opponent lost one monster, and my opponent didn't manage to land any bloodlust attacks. At this point, the match could still go either way. I am so glad that I had Cruel Sethropod because it took the gladiators attack and survived using its armor.
Round 3
My opponent lost another monster, and the bloodlust is starting to stack up on Isgald. With this, I don't think there is any way for my opponent to win.
I ended up winning this match a few rounds later. Once that bloodlust stacked, I won without any issues.
Conclusion
The battle this time worked out as I planned, even if the win was due to a bit of luck on my end. I can't believe how that Cruel Sethropod became the winning card against the gladiators on my opponent's end because it had armor. Since my opponent couldn't stack bloodlust, I was able to stack mine and wipe out my opponent without any issues. It's rare to see a double gladiator fight on both sides, and we were even using the same gladiators. I had luck on my end, and I am glad that things worked out.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

The RELENOR in the second place took some decent place which protected your other cards. Same strategy, but you placed your cards in better position.
Yea. I was surprised to see us use the same gladiator, and I won just because of my lineup.
He could have put some weapon training on his first monster, or place it as last, it was kinda wasted there
I agree. Then again, gold foil brawls are rough and weapons training cards tend to be fairly high rarity.
