Splinterlands: A'lan Musketeer is good in Tis But Scratches
Splinterlands is a complex game, and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied, and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle where I won because I used A'lan Musketeer.
Featured cards

A'lan Musketeer is a neutral monster that costs 8 mana. It only has the double strike ability, but I think it is a fairly good card in Frontier. I got this card recently, and I have noticed that it's a good addition because it is neutral and it can be placed in most fights if I need it. I only have this card at level 1, but the level 2 version of this card is looking amazing, as it would gain another ranged attack.
Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The rulesets this time are Tis But Scratches and Up to Eleven. This means that all monsters all monsters gain the cripple and amplify ability. There is also 24 mana available, and I can use fire, earth, or dragon splinter.
This fight is interesting as landing more attacks can reduce my enemy's health more. That cripple can help quite a bit against those high armor monsters because even that will reduce their health.
| Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurelia | 6 | Summoner | +1 Health |
| Dread Tafarian | 9 | 1st | Heal |
| A'lan Musketeer | 8 | 5th | Double Strike |
| Total Mana: | 23 |
My summoner is Aurelia for its +1 health. My tank is Dread Tafarian with heal, and my second monster is A'lan Musketeer.
The focus of this lineup is just to survive as long as possible with my tank while A'lan Musketeer deals damage. The biggest benefit of A'lan Musketeer is that the double strike will take advantage of the cripple to reduce 2 maximum health every turn.
Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way because my opponent has more damage than me. The biggest advantage that I have is that A'lan Musketeer will move first, but I can still love if I miss attacks. There isn't much going on, but anything can happen depending on luck. Once either of our tanks goes down, the winner is decided.

After enough attacks, I won the match. I was a bit worried about the damage advantage, but I didn't miss any attacks so I won without any issues.
Conclusion
The battle this time went exactly how I planned it. A'lan Musketeer is good in this fight because it crippled my opponent twice every turn. This reduced the healing that my opponent had, and gave me just enough damage to kill my opponent before he could kill me. At the same time, A'lan Musketeer is a legendary card, so it was the first monster in the attack order, making it far more useful. Cards can be useful depending on the ruleset and how they are used. I still think A'lan Musketeer at level 2 is far more powerful, but even at level 1, it has its uses.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.

I don't have this card, I have yet to establish if it's good or not 🤔
I think it's good at level 1 under some situations, but it's way better at level 2. I still only have 1 BCX.
Great move. A’lan Musketeer’s double strike is definitely a game changer in that ruleset.
It's useful when you can take advantage of the rulesets.
