Brawl Report #149: A great brawl for me, but our guild placed last

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches, and it was decent this time around. I did a great job in brawls this time around, but my guild didn't do so great.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 6 wins. This time, there were no free wins because every single guild filled this fray. My rewards for the brawl were 2,619 merits and 32.82 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 10th place out of the 10 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots, and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. I did amazing this time around, but my guild didn't do so great this time around.

Brawl fights

There were 3 that I lost, 4 that I won, and 2 that I won due to surrender. So, I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. My opponent had way too many healers, and the speed advantage was hard to overcome.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. My opponent's ranged monsters were stronger and faster than mine.

You can find the third match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. My lineup just countered my opponent, and there wasn't much they could do.

You can find the fourth match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. I used the ruleset against my opponent because having an immunity monster was a great choice.

You can find the fifth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had a stronger lineup. The speed advantage just hurts when it is combined with the blast effect.

You can find the sixth match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. Using a higher health monster helped me outlast my opponent.

You can find the seventh match here. I won this match because I had the stronger lineup. I am glad that my first monster was also my lowest health monster. Having armor meant that my opponent couldn't stack bloodlust while my bloodlust stacked.

Conclusion

Doing 8 fights for 2,619 merits and 32.82 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I did great this time around, but my guild didn't do so great. It does look like we got stacked against quite a few active guilds as every single match in my fray was filled. I guess we just didn't have enough active people playing.
