Happy and productive week, my dear creative friends. I hope you are all well and blessed with good health and well-being.

This weekend I was in my favorite place: surrounded by fabrics, paintbrushes, and the happiness I feel when I am doing something with my hands and my heart. And today I want to share with this community one of the projects I finished: a hand-painted cell phone holder that I had stored at home waiting for its moment.

It was an MDF mold that I bought a few days ago, I think at the beginning of the year, and had saved “for when I have a day off.” And that day arrived. So I decided to devote it entirely to the pleasure of doing crafts, which deeply calm me, bring me back to the present, and also awaken my creativity in a very special way.

Este fin de semana estuve en mi lugar favorito: entre tejidos, pinceles y la felicidad que siento cuando estoy haciendo algo con las manos y el corazón. Y hoy quiero compartir con esta comunidad uno de los proyectos que terminé: un portacelular pintado a mano que tenía guardado en casa esperando su momento.

Era un molde en MDF que compré hace unos días, creo que a principio de año y que había guardado “para cuando tenga un día libre”. Y ese día llegó. Así que decidí dedicarlo completo al placer de hacer manualidades, que a mí me serenan profundamente, me devuelven al presente y, además, despiertan mi creatividad de una forma muy especial.

Materials I used:

• MDF mold for the cell phone holder
• Paintbrushes of different thicknesses
• Acrylic paints
• Cloth
• A small cup of water to clean the paintbrushes

Materiales que utilicé:

• Molde en MDF del portacelular
• Pinceles de diferentes grosores.
• Pinturas acrílicas
• Pañito
• Un vasito con agua para limpiar los pinceles.

Step by step

First, I prepared the surface. I cleaned the MDF with a dry cloth to remove any dust. Then I applied a soft clay-colored base coat to the entire piece, including the stand, and then blended it with brushstrokes of violet. I love working with light bases because they allow the colors to stand out more intensely later on. I let it dry thoroughly before starting to paint the design.

The design I chose was a mandala-style design using the pointillism technique. I started by painting the central design with different colors of paint: mustard, blue, violet, white, and dark green, which were the colors I chose. I worked in sections, allowing each layer to dry between coats to prevent the colors from mixing.

I used the dot markers to make the decorative dots. I love this technique because painting dot by dot, without rushing, allows me to meditate.

Paso a paso

Primero preparé la superficie. Limpié el MDF con un pañito seco para retirar cualquier polvillo. Luego apliqué una base de color arcilla suave en toda la pieza, incluyendo el soporte y luego maticé con pinceladas de violeta. Me encanta trabajar con bases claras porque permiten que los colores resalten con más intensidad después. Dejé secar muy bien antes de comenzar a pintar el diseño.

El diseño que elegí fue tipo mandala con técnica de puntillismo. Comencé pintando el diseño central con diferentes colores de pintura: mostaza, azul, violeta, blanco y verde oscuro que fueron los colores que escogí.. Trabajé por secciones, dejando secar entre capa y capa para evitar que los colores se mezclaran.

Con los pintapuntos fui haciendo los puntos decorativos. Esta técnica me encanta porque pintando punto a punto, sin prisa puedo hacer una meditación.

I wanted to maintain harmony in the corners, so I repeated the pointillism in an arc shape, combining the same colors so that everything would blend together visually. That balance between the main design and the base makes the piece look integrated and delicate.

En las esquinas quise mantener la armonía, así que repetí el puntillismo en forma de arco, combinando los mismos colores para que todo combinara visualmente. Ese equilibrio entre el diseño principal y la base hace que la pieza se vea integrada y delicada.
