OLD BARN № 049. revisited & expanded

(Edited)

In my last post, I mentioned how everything in this world is ephemeral, and how many old barns just get older and eventually fall down (or are demolished when they become unstable). But, that last post showed how someone converted an old barn to a cute little house. Here, we celebrate another of my old barns that has been upgraded and improved!

Even when I first wrote about OLD BARN № 049 here on Hive, I realized from GoogleMaps™ that it had already been remodeled. I showed the "Street View" from GoogleMaps™ near the end of the post, but had not yet driven past the barn to get my own photo, but now I have!

So, let's look first at how the barn appeared when I initially discovered it. The following photos show my original shot (left) and after some cleanup of the branches eclipsing the view (right):

Some years later, the barn had been given a fresh coat of paint to protect it against the elements and it looks so good! An addition has been built on the left-side of the barn, giving the owner of the barn more space for storage, an office, or maybe a workshop for tinkering or building things. It is lovely, what they did to remodel this charming barn! My original photo is it is on the left, below, and the enhanced image with tree-branch removal is at below-right.

I think the remodeled barn is gorgeous! 😍

The following shot shows the row of Crepe Myrtle trees that line the road at the edge of the property, the ones I had to look through to see the barn. They are lovely little trees that produce pretty, long-lasting flowers during the summertime.

The following screenshot from GoogleMaps™ shows the location of the property, the barn, and that row of trees.

It warms my heart to see fabulous old structures cared for and the history of the area preserved. It's also nice when the barns are being used for something, even if it's just storage space. So, "Kudos!" to the owners for keeping this beautiful barn intact!

𝕋𝕙𝕒𝕟𝕜𝕤 𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕚𝕟𝕘! 😊

the cool think about google maps is that you can also view it overtime. if google maps already took many photos over the years, you can see each one, how it looked as time went by.

The new coat of paint on that red barn really makes it pop, and the left‑side addition looks perfect for a little workshop. Seeing those Crepe Myrtle trees in full bloom beside the upgradded structure gave me a happy vibe :) I cant help but think the owners did a lovly job preserving that piece of history, like a friendly ADmin of the countryside.

Looks great! Seems like you have a lot of influence in the world of barns :-D

The new sign is also pretty cool. Quite old school.

I like those old signs, too! I have a couple of barns in my collection that are covered in old signs! There was OLD BARN № 064, and number 240 (yet to be posted) has even more signs! Stay tuned! 😃

We have so many barns in my neck of the woods, but not all are cared for and a lot have gone to such a state of disrepair, that they've caved in on themselves! It is a shame for sure!

Barn number o49 is indeed lovely with it's red paint and additional space! I do enjoy viewing barns and barns with silos next to them.

Thanks for sharing @thekittygirl! Take care and have a lovely day! !LADY

Several of the barns in my collection are no longer standing, either. Makes me extra glad that I caught them when I did! Thanks for your thoughtful comment! 😊

That old barn looks like it's part of a story with cowboys! I'd lie if saying that it didn't throw me right in the middle of the Red Dead Redemption 2 video game, lol! Nice share!

Historical structures like this in rural areas, representing our past heritage, need to be very well preserved and restored. They've really given this barn the attention it deserves. It looks much better now. You've captured both the old and new appearances very well. Congratulations 😊
