Students and hunger 5 and 6

Hello guys. Welcome back for week 53 of the hive student community. I found it very interesting to share my experiences in school here even after graduation. Is a very good thing to have people of like mindedness being together in a community and talking about what they have experience in past of present.

This image belongs to me.

Back in my NCE days which took place in 2017 up till 2019. That was the period that I know that hunger can not kill especially when there is hope for food in the future. Hahaha 😂. Guys I am laughing now that I am sharing what happened to me as a student back then, but it wasn't really funny back then. It was really hard on me.

I left school when I was just 16 years old because there was no one to sponsor me and that was in High school. Jss 1 as we will call in here in Nigeria. I hated it but hard to live with it for the next 25 years of my life. The stigma and shame followed me all over and the inferiority complex inside of me was even the worse. I got married like that and after having 5 kids with the help of my husband I went back to SS1 to complete my secondary school. I wrote my SSCE in 2016 and got admission into Nasarawa State College of Education Akwanga 2017. back then I studied English language combined with Igbo language.

Guys it was within these three years that hunger almost tore me apart. My five children were in school, my husband's business wasn't doing well at the time and I had to shut down my own computer business center to concentrate on studies. so it was like practically I had no source of income to support the family and myself in school. Most times I live the house without food and come back in the evening like that. One thing that I make sure to do is that there is always small food at home for the children to eat before going to school and also to eat when they are back from school. Sometimes I will get lucky and eat from the food that other students brought to school and sometimes I go to the hostel during our Free period to eat from anyone I see that made food. And sometimes too it I get lucky and there is enough food at home I will fetch some to school and eat when we don't have lectures. This was how I survived the hunger for that three years but sometimes it get very bad that I will be very sick because I have not eating. Most people don't even know what we were going through in the family, but I guess God who sees in the secret kept sustaining us until I graduated.

I don't think that lack of food will make someone not to school because I have experience it first hand and I can say that one can actually face hunger in school and still come out with good grades. At the end of my studies I was given an award for the best student in my department

Hunger is not a good thing. I can understand how it was hard for you especially catering and raising 5 children while you self is going to school. All what you're doing was because you prefer to go hungry but won't allow your children to go hungry. But thank God, everything is in the past and become story to tell.

I can't imagine how difficult it must have been balancing your studies, taking care of your family, and dealing with hunger at the same time. Your determination paid off, and graduating as the best student in your department is something to be truly proud of. Thanks for sharing such an inspiring journey.

Hunger is not a good thing if we actually look at deeper. Hunger has lead some students to bad habits like stealing. As a student, we all have different nerve to how can hold up to hunger. Even though hunger is what really shaped me during my school days and it what break some students too. Hunger will affect us mentally and physically and lose focus to study.

Just like you said that lack of food can will not make someone to lose focus on school. I can't totally agree with that because we're different breed and come from different backgrounds. Thanks for sharing
