Funny memory of a four wheeler learning/ driving

When I see people riding a car, I thought, "How simple it is to ride a car?" . So once I settled in India and took up a job in a nearby school, I decided to opt for a driving class.

The school timing was from 9.a.m. to 4 p.m. Some of my colleagues also planned to join the driving classes. The hunt began for a driving school. And finally ended with one nearby our schoool. After school hours, we used to leave to the driving ground, by bus.

And slowly the classes started. We planned to learn two wheeler and four wheeler. For the four wheeler we were given Maruti 800. In the beginning everything was fine but then I realised the instructor was a terror. For every small mistakes while learning to drive, he used to beat our hands with his, while on steering. Actually in the beginning I felt ashamed and later understood even my colleagues experienced the same.

We had the pride in us , that we were teachers and were meant to control the students. But then, within a minute our pride was crumbled by this instructor years younger to us and made us realize any ob has its own powe, be it big or small

The next day none of us were interested in going for the driving session, for fear of getting a beating. Sounds foolish, but it was true.. After two days we went to the driving school and along with three of us was an aged man who also came to learn driving. Probably he might be the age of the instructor's father. But no worries, when he made a mistake while driving, he was also caught by his ears. Ha... so that should be the technique of his teaching. In the meantime, we were a bit relaxed, so it is not only we but also others.

And finally the day of test arrived. And by his rigorous rules and non stop beating, we passed the test. I got my licence in 3 months. But little did I realize, it is not all about learning but driving all alone in the road is a real task. Though to my happiness I have got the license, I never had the guts to drive it alone, on the road. Children make fun of me to frame my driving license to big size and hang it in the living room 😅 so that peoples come to know I know driving.

Thanks friends. The photos are my own, on one of our memorable visot to a neighbouring state.

Wishing all a great weekend ahead !!!!

Your children are funny 🤣
One thing I learn is that it doesn't matter the age, once it comes to learning something, even if it's a younger person teaching, we must be humble and obey them. In the end, we get a good result. That was in your case, and I believe you are a pro at driving today.

Great that despite the horror instructor you got your driving license, even if it's only to display it in the living room as your children say hehe ;)

Ha ha ha. Did you frame and hang your driver's license in the living room? First time I've ever heard anything like that. Sorry, I don't mean to be rude. I did write with admiration! And you're right to hang it up if you feel like it. Driving is a big responsibility, and it certainly involves dangers. You know, your anecdotes with driving instructors, not so different in these parts of the world. I guess it's just common sense.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
