Afternoon Habit: Street Food, Rides, and Nap Time
Every afternoon has become a family routine—we go out together to buy snacks. But beyond that, one big reason is to help the kids fall asleep. Our boys won’t nap unless taken for a ride on the e-bike. So every day, even when we’re tired, we still go. It’s our little parenting hack.
This Saturday felt a bit more special. A neighbor had just opened a new street food stall, so we decided to support them and try their food before the usual ride.
We ordered a few things, including siomai, cookies & cream shake, and Oreo milkshake—and to our surprise, our 2-year-old Ryzen loved it!
He sat comfortably on the bench like a little boss, happily munching on his food with so much confidence and pride. We couldn’t stop smiling.
The stall also had the usual favorites: perfectly skewered isaw, ready for grilling, and bright red Pinoy-style hotdogs lined up neatly. Just seeing them brought back memories of our childhood snack runs.
As always, the highlight wasn’t just the food—it was the little moments. Our baby, still in his carrier, curiously reached for the straw of my cold drink. Though too young to eat, he clearly wanted to join in the fun.
After eating, we hopped on the e-bike and rode around the area. As expected, the motion worked its magic—the boys slowly dozed off, lulled by the breeze and gentle hum of the motor.
That’s our afternoon ritual. Simple joys, new flavors, and bonding as a family—plus two well-rested kids by the end of it.
Until next time,
– Jeff
