The price for boredom
Okechukwu popularly went by the name Okey amongst his town folk. He was the biggest shepherd and the most loving bachelor.
Have you seen a young charming guy, financially stable, and is very kind at heart, Okey was your guy. Every mother wanted Okey to be their son-in-law but the guy was just so focused on his business. His care for his town folks was without strings. He always helped not because he wanted their daughters to be his wife but because it was his nature.
Being one of the most popular guy in town, Okey maintained that spot by always being there for anyone who needed him as little as he could.
He earned a spot in the hearts of the villagers because of his kind heart. His parent's weren't even from that particular village. They were refugee's from war. Idongo town and Talango town had been rivals for years. The last war they fought was really brutal which caused Okey's father, Mazi Nnanna to relocate with his family.
Okey really crossed the line. As usual, he went to work, taking care of his flocks. Everyone was busy with work trying to make ends meet, when the shout was heard;
"Ewo, chimo, help me, help me, a lion wants to kill all my flocks, help me"
Everyone was so sympathetic towards Okey and they rose up in anger to go defend him. The mothers, the fathers, his fellow youths rose up with wood, cutlass, guns, and every other weapon their hands could grab.
Getting to the site, Okey started laughing, " I was just joking, i wanted to check how much you guys really cared for me"
The villagers weren't excited but they ignored it because Okey had earned their love. They young men weren't happy at all, you could hear some of them mumbling words "it's just boredom that made him do that"
Even though what he did was wrong, at least he discovered a very amazing truth; the villagers love him.
Everyone really appreciated the fact that Okey was really industrious. His mistakes the other day was quickly forgotten.
The king invited Okey over to his palace to discuss how to involve him in the sponsorship program. Okey wasn't the richest young man but he was the most willing whenever it comes to the matter of help and assistance.
Many weeks later, Okey as usual went to work and this time a lion really attacked him. He screamed at the top of his voice; " help me ohh, a lion wants to devour my animals, help me."
Everyone heard him shout but as usual they thought he was being visited by boredom like the last time. Liitle did they know that his life was really at stake.
The youth's sat still at the bar and continued with their drinks because they taught Okey was joking.
The mother's were washing the clothes at the stream when they heard him shout. He was ignored by all not because they hated him but because they taught he was joking.
'where did Okey learn this bad behavior?' the women gossiped about him for a while because switching over to the hot Gos in town.
"Nkem, the son of the prime minister came last position again in class after moving from one School to another."
"At least he is faithful in one thing, no matter where he goes, he keeps his last Position"
Okey ran into the village, clothes all torn like he was the one fighting the lion. Hands on his head and his eyes all swollen like he had been crying since the day he was born.
Everyone gathered around and discovered that Okey was actually in need of their help. He had lost everything. His life was the only thing he had.
The villagers were sorrowful because they weren't there when Okey needed them. They weren't to be blamed though, they all thought as usual Okey was just bored and trying to keep himself busy.
Okey lost everything and the annoying part was that he couldn't even blame the villagers because their reasons were solid.
Boredom drove Okey to have fun which later cost him everything. The king hearing the news asked Okey to come to his palace.
Okey had sown a good seed all his life and because of that the harvest was due. The king and all his cabinet members gave Okey two goats each to start his farm again.

Your story is very interesting. Okey, for the first time, to get out of boredom, he shouted that he was in trouble. Everyone ran, but it was a lie. When he really got into trouble, screaming and crying, no one helped him because they thought it was a joke. Have a nice afternoon.
Thanks
Hmm sincerely some jokes are very expensive and it will make people not to believe you easily when that thing actually happens
I love your story
True 👌🏿
Yes, this fable used to be one of my favorite when I was a child. We should never abuse others trust. Okey learned a valuable lesson...
Thank you for sharing, please have a wonderful week!
