The power of hindsight (fiction #222)

"If i only I could turn back the hands of time"

      ********SIX WEEKS EARLIER***********

The Perfect Date
Anna stood in front of her mirror, admiring her reflection in a stunning red gown. Her cousin, Krystle, had helped her pick out the perfect outfit for her date with Ryan, a guy she had been crushing on for months. Ryan was everything Anna had been looking for in a partner – charming, handsome, and successful.

"I know it's your first date with this guy but I swear Cuz if this guy doesn't get on one knee asking you to marry him after seeing you on this dress. Its either he is married or impotent" Krystle said.

That has always been her charm, she knew how to make Anna feel special and seen. Anna really adored her even though they were cousins they had different upbringing with Anna being from a very wealthy background. That actually contributed to her high and expensive taste in men, "i need a guy with six packs and six cars". She always said.

As Anna arrived at the restaurant, Ryan was already seated at their table, sipping on a glass of wine. He stood up as she approached, flashing a charming smile. Anna's heart skipped a beat as she took in his chiseled features and piercing blue eyes.

The date started off well, with engaging conversations and witty banter. However, things took a turn for the worse when Ryan received a call from his business partner. He excused himself to take the call, but his tone and language were loud and abrasive, leaving Anna feeling embarrassed and disrespected.

Anna's eyes widened in shock as Ryan continued to yell at his partner, completely unaware of the scene he was causing. That's when she'd had enough. She grabbed her purse and stormed out of the restaurant, leaving Ryan to his call.

Outside, Anna quickly ordered an Uber, eager to get away from the uncomfortable situation. As she spotted a sleek black car pull up, thinking it was her ride, she rushed in without checking the driver's identity.

"Thank you so much for getting here quickly," Anna said, still fuming from her date.

Alex was surprised but decided to play along, "it's just a harmless lady, just think of it as giving a damsel in distress a ride home" he thought to himself as he decided to play along.

He introduced himself, smiled warmly and asked, "What's wrong? You look like you've had a rough night."

It looked like Anna really needed to vent because that question was just a bait to pour out all her frustrations, sharing the story of her disastrous date. Alex listened attentively, offering words of encouragement and humor. As they drove through the city, Anna found herself calming down, enjoying Alex's easygoing nature.

Before she knew it, they had arrived at her destination. Alex pulled up to her apartment complex and turned to her with a smile. "We're here. That'll be $20, please."

Anna handed over the fare, still unaware that Alex was not just an ordinary Uber driver. In reality, Alex was the son of a billionaire, using his friend's car to help him out for the night. For a long time, He had been searching for a genuine partner, tired of women who only cared about his wealth. He never thought about acting poor but Anna implying that though unintentionally gave him a nice act to play.

As Anna stepped out of the car, Alex watched her go, intrigued by her authenticity and kindness. Little did he know, Anna had already written him off as just a driver.

The next day, Krystle met Alex while running errands for her job. They collided at a coffee shop, and Alex ended up spilling coffee all over Krystle's shirt. Apologetic, he offered to buy her a new coffee and they struck up a conversation.

Krystle was smitten with Alex's charming personality and genuine nature. As they talked, Anna's name came up, and Alex mentioned his encounter with her the previous night. Krystle's eyes lit up, and she couldn't help but share stories about her cousin's dating disasters.
I can't believe this, "small world" i have heard people say that now i reall get what they mean. Alex said in surprise.

As the days turned into weeks, Alex and Krystle grew closer, their chemistry undeniable. They would often meet for coffee, and Alex found himself falling for Krystle's quirky charm and infectious laughter.

Meanwhile, Anna couldn't shake off the memory of Alex, the kind and understanding "Uber driver" who had calmed her nerves on a chaotic night. She often found herself wondering what could have been if he was a rich guy.

Hey Kay, we have a family gathering and my Parents ask that i bring the lady who had changed the life of their son, making him the happiest guy in the planet. So babe will you do me the honours and be my date? Alex asked.

Krystle blushing suggested her cousin came with her to the party. Honestly they were expecting a small family gathering of middle class citizens because of Alex kind of work.
But the wheels were turned when they drove into one of the biggest houses in the entire state and Alex telling them that the house belonged to him. With every staff greating Alex with homour and respect.a

Alex explained everything to Krystle, who was heartbroken but understood the kind of pressure that would make him act the way he did.

That evening, as Anna watched Alex and Krystle laughing together at the family gathering, she couldn't help but feel a pang of regret. "If only I could turn back the hands of time," Anna chanted to herself, wondering what would have happened if she had known Alex's true identity that night.

As Krystle and Alex's relationship blossomed, Anna realized that sometimes, life takes unexpected turns, and the people we least expect can become the ones who change our lives forever.

The power of hindsight. The advantage we would have if only we had a view of what tomorrow would bring.

Everyone is important in one way or the other. If surely we have an idea of how life would actually turn out, then people would treat their fellow humans respectfully.
Alex understand the complexity of life, and to find true love, he decided to keep his true identity a secret, which paid well in the end.
Beautiful read. Well done
