The devil's warning: What's the price for the devil's help? (2)

Mr. Sanchez is a weirdo but his prophecy just saved my life.
I'm very sure Don Arturo was behind this assassination attempt because the word on the street is that Falcone Manor who is my running opponent is his godson. So this must be his way of securing the mayoral seat in this city so he can do what he wants by pushing his products in and out of the city without blockade.

Though this is really confusing. Does it mean that the devil wants to help me save this city from drugs because why the hell will a man known for his diabolic practices help me escape death when he clearly knows that I'm trying to stop drugs.

This thoughts troubled Riggs as he journeyed back to his home after he must have gone for the political debate. I guess Don Arturo knew his godson couldn't beat me so he had to help him somehow.

The taxi pulled over at the entrance of Riggs house and he stood there for few minutes. He couldn't muster up courage to cross over to Sanchez's house.

"Are you looking for me?" This startled Riggs because he didn't expect anyone to come behind him like that. He quickly turned and noticed it was Sanchez.

"How the hell did you get here?" Riggs asked shock palpable.

"I see you are alive, i thought you would be as stubborn as your Dad." He said as he crossed the road walking towards his house. He knew what he said would trigger the curiosity in Riggs, which would make him ask questions.

"My Dad? What do you know about my Dad's death?" Riggs asked with so much concern as he walked behind Sanchez.
Mr. Donald, Riggs Dad was also murdered by the same method 13 years ago when he was also running for the office of the mayor. Everyone knew Don Arturo was behind it but there was no evidence to prosecute him.

Sanchez walked into his home and left the door open behind him which meant Riggs was welcome.
"Have a seat. Coffee, tea or something strong?" Sanchez offered.

"Something strong" Riggs replied.

Sanchez went to his kitchen as he brought out his old stash. "After what you've been through today, you deserve something as strong as this" he said as he placed two glasses at the table and poured in the liquid.

He sat down on the chair opposite from where Riggs sat, taking a sip from his glass. "I don't think drinking something strong has a time frame, i believe when things go well take something strong and when they are bad take something stronger" Sanchez said as he tried to play with Riggs curiosity a little before going into the details of what he said earlier about Riggs Dad, Mr. Donald.

"I can remember that morning like it was yesterday. I came and i told him that he was going to be killed just the same way they attempted to kill you. I told him his car would break down on his way to the political debate, he would get to a junction and there will be a blockade there, the cops will redirect them to take another route and finally he would get to a T-junction and the shoot out will happen. Just the same thing i told you, i guess you are wiser than your Dad." He said taking another sip from his glass, watching how the Riggs received the information.

People call me weird because of my hobbies. Now, let me answer the question you really want an answer to. I know you didn't come here to hear about who killed your dad, you already know that. You are here to ask why a diabolic man like me would help you escape death since
i work for the devil. The devil wants people dead we both know that much and drugs is a good way to do that.
"But there is something he wants more than the death of a man." Sanchez said

"What is that?" Riggs asked.

"Worship" sanchez said.

The look on Riggs was that of a confused one. He didn't get what Sanchez meant by worship.
"What do you mean by that and how does that relate to why you saved my life" Riggs asked

I know you don't go to church, but there is a parable in the bible. It's about a shepherd who had a hundred sheep and one was lost, he left the ninety-nine in search of the one.
"That's really careless of him to do." Riggs said.

I thought the same many years ago when i was younger than you. But i came to realise that the ninety-nine are assured of safety but that one could be lost forever. Before you ask again how this relates to why you are still alive, let me tell you.
Drugs going in and out of this city will never stop even with you as the mayor. It may be toned down but it will never stop, it will just make the prices more expensive.
Don Arturo is already a lost cause. His soul already belongs to the devil, with or without him controlling the cartel. But as for you seated here, although you don't believe in God, there is a possibility that tomorrow you could. So that's why the devil saved you, so you owe him now.

"Wait, wait wait but i never said i wanted you help." Riggs voiced.

"And you took it. The devil streched his hands and you took it. He saved you." Sanchez said.
"Did my father know about this?" Riggs asked.

Yeah he did, he knew nothing just happens. There's Nothing free in this world. I guess he chose to die better than oweing the devil a favor. I guess you are wiser than him, a dead man can't talk, you are alive.

"So what now?" Riggs asked with disgust in his voice.

Sanchez placed his glass on the table as his refilled it again, "Go home Riggs, he will come with his request when he is ready." Sanchez said as she stood up from the couch and opened the door for Riggs bidding him to leave.

Dad knew that he was going to die and yet he made that choice regardless. I didn't even know that i would owe the devil a favor if i choose not to die.

But even if i had known what choice would i have still made? Riggs thought to himself as he walked into his house.

Thanks for reading again🙏🏿🙏🏿❤️❤️
