The devil's warning: what's the price for the devil's help (1)

John shouldn't have died
I feel bad, but it was a necessary sacrifice.

In the sleepy town of Ravenswood, where politics and corruption danced a deadly tango, a man named Riggs stood out as a beacon of hope. With a determination to restore order and justice, he had thrown his hat into the ring, running for mayor against the entrenched interests of the powerful drug cartel.

Riggs lived next door to a mysterious figure, known only as Sanchez, a man shrouded in an aura of darkness. The townsfolk whispered about Sanchez's nocturnal wanderings, always with a black kettle in hand, emitting a strange, pungent smoke. Some claimed at one time he had been attacked by robbers and all of a sudden was no where in sight, which made the robbers run for their lives. Riggs, however, remained skeptical.

One fateful morning, as Riggs was leaving for his political debate, Sanchez stepped out of the shadows and blocked his path. His eyes gleamed with an unsettling intensity as he delivered a chilling prophecy:

"Three things will happen to you today, Riggs. Your car will break down on the way to the debate. At a certain junction, the road will be blocked, and you'll be diverted. And finally, at a T-junction, your car will be surrounded, and you'll meet your demise."

Riggs scoffed at the warning, attributing it to Sanchez's eccentricities. After all, what could a man with a reputation for consorting with dark forces possibly know about his fate?

As Riggs embarked on his journey, fate seemed to conspire against him. His car indeed broke down, and his driver, John, worked tirelessly to fix the engine. Riggs grew impatient, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was amiss.

When the car was finally fixed, they continued on their way, only to encounter a police checkpoint. The officers explained that the main road was under sudden construction, and they were forced to take a detour. Riggs's instincts began to tingle as he recalled Sanchez's words.

In a bold move, Riggs ordered John to continue without him, citing an urgent matter. John looked perplexed but didn't argue, given Riggs's authoritative tone. Riggs hailed a taxi and watched as John's car disappeared into the distance.

As they approached the infamous T-junction, Riggs instructed the taxi driver to stop. He stepped out, his eyes fixed on John's car, which he watched as he crossed the T-junction unscathed.
I knew it that man is just a bored old fool, he said to himself. All of a sudden the sound of gunfire echoed through the air, and Riggs knew that John was doomed.

A mix of guilt and relief washed over Riggs as he realized he had narrowly escaped death. He couldn't help but wonder if Sanchez's warning had been more than just a mere coincidence.

"Why did you help me, Sanchez?" Riggs asked himself, the question echoing in his mind like a mantra.

As he watched the chaos unfold, Riggs couldn't shake off the feeling that he had just made a pact with a force beyond his understanding. The devil's warning had saved his life, but at what cost?

Riggs's journey had taken a dark turn, one that would forever change the course of his life. The question was, what lay ahead, and what would be the ultimate price of his survival?

Yeah
