Deal gone wrong

"Yo bro, a crazy idea just strolled across my head" Jude exclaimed.

Raymond kept his cool because out of ten good ideas from Jude, 2 and half were actually close to good ideas.
"Will this time be any different Jude?" Ray asked.

"What!!" Jude exclaimed
"You know what, never mind, I'll just keep it to myself" he added.

After a brief pause, he noticed Raymond wasn't going to bite. "I'm really disappointed in you bro, in all we've been through together, you still don't believe i could amount to something. I'm gonna prove you wrong, my brother" Jude said and angrily walked out.

Ray didn't still stop him like he always did. Maybe he was tired of being in the same mess with him always because of "friendship." His wife had clearly warned him that his friend Jude was going to drag him down with him if he wasn't careful.

"I swear to God Ray, I'm going to leave your ass if you invest in any of this guy's ponzi schemes again." She screamed in their last altercation.

Jude was a single man so he was the only one who was going to face the repercussions of his mistakes, but it was different for Ray.
Ray had two kids and a wife to think of before taking any step. Since they had a joint account, he couldn't be careless to use any money in their account for Jude's money squadering adventures.

Ray as usual wanted to give Jude the benefit of the doubt, but his hands were tied. He loved his wife Sarah more than anything in his entire world. He also knew the fact that Sarah never bluffed. She wasn't the type that made empty threats.

Right from the first day they met each other. On their second date, Sarah had voiced "I'm going to be your wife."
Imagine hearing that on your second date with a lady. He had never met any lady with such confidence. The fact that he still sat there after hearing such a declaration from Sarah even marveled him.
Months later when he had asked her what gave her such confidence, she said "after our first date, i knew our roles aligned alot and i already liked you. On our second date, seeing the way you looked at me, i swear to God, those words escaped my lips. I was scared you were going to walk out because that was strange. But you didn't."

Ray was Disturbed because since he met Jude in college days, they had always been there for each other. I guess there's always a first time for everything. But Ray couldn't let it go.

What's up bro, so what's cooking? Ray asked from the other end of the call.

"I knew you always had my back, bro. In your next life i think you should come out as a girl, I'm gonna marry you, i promise you that." Jude voiced.

But why do I have to be the girl? Ray asked.

"That's by the way. This idea has been in my mind for years now. It's really sick bro." Jude said

Now, you know everyone needs a ride to work right? What if we get a virtual reality headset that would keep them company amidst the hectic schedule. We could even put some soothing music to keep them company and some games too.

"What if people get so engrossed that they forget their stop?" Ray asked.

Ehmm, we could make it in such a way, the person registers his destination amd immediately he/she gets there, the game or song shots down.

Crazy right?" Jude asked

Ray didn't know how to tell him that it was actually lame. Jude had this smile on his face that he hadn't seen in a long time after their last crash in business. The truth remains that Jude had a lot of cash stashed out because his father willed him alot, so he is on his quest to prove to his Dad that he is also a good investor.

"I think i have to take a raincheck on this particular deal." Ray said.

"Why?" Jude asked. "Don't you like the idea?" He added.

"I won't lie bro, The idea is not cool to me and given the fact Sarah and i are going through some financial block after our last crash, i can't take that risk now until I'm certain.

Jude was disappointed but he knew Ray had been a good friend to him like forever. "It's cool man, if it works out i will ring you first to invest because i know you've lost a lot of money investing in my dreams."

                       14 MONTHS LATER

"Ray, Ray honey come see this" Sarah calling out from the sitting room.

"What is it baby?" Ray asked.

She just pointed towards the television and Ray turned his head towards it.

On the news it was reported that Jude was sued because of his "VR commute" because it was responsible for a lot of accidents since 5 months after it was launched.

He was to pay a fine $10 million dollar damage.

"If you had invested in this business, we would have been on our way to the courtroom now right?"

Very interesting and educational story you really sure know how to handle everything so nicely and I really felt the message of your story because I have been there not like a friend of mine has involved himself on something not right and derespectful for anyone to partake if you truly fear the Lord but I just pray that he does not end up like Jude in your story because I know how painful it is to be in that condition. Thank you for sharing this this beautiful story with us really helped me to understand where I am standing is at a good place.
