Bitter sweet taste

I believe when you see a black kettle, please call it black and don't try to paint it because in turn you may lose integrity.

I've come to a place where I believe I will be a kind friend and sometimes cool and not only a cool friend.
You may not like the truth but believe me, I will tell you the honest truth and not try to pamper you.

A cool friend may see you do something but not point out the bad and just clap for you but a kind friend won't take it, He will correct you in love.

On a Friday morning, my friends and I hung out the previous night and slept in late forgetting we had an early lecture on the Friday morning.
The lecture was scheduled for 8am but due to the time we all slept, we woke up late. We weren't late because we slept in late, we were because even though the alarm rung, we turned it off and continued with our sleep.

I arose first and I checked the time, it was just 6:45am. "Oh, thank God." I said out loud to myself. I was going to close my eyes and have a little prayer before heading for the shower. I finally opened my eyes and it was 8:08am.

"How in the world did that happen?" I had slept all through me prayer time. I didn't bother waking my friends because they won't rise until they are convinced. One way to do that is by leading by example. I had to take a shower first so when I woke them they would see that I had already taken my bath.
I did exactly that and it worked, only that they were too tired to even take a shower and one of them brought up an idea that the second guy quickly bought.

"Ben, just allow us sleep and you attend the class and sign attendance on our behalf." Rex said.

"Bro, that's really wise, I agree with Rex." Kehinde voiced.

I won't lie, for a minute I thought to be the cool friend that would say, "Aight, I got you guys, enjoy your sleep. If there's any issues I'll call you to rush down to the lecture hall."

"Never guys, I won't sponsor your laziness."
Naaahhh, I wasn't going to have it. Those words just slipped of my mouth. Words that I may have never said but I had to.

Those words stuck with Rex in an unusual way. "I won't sponsor your laziness."

He laughed as he repeated it over and over again. I may have said a word that wasn't cool but those words were kind enough to make them get into the bathroom and take their bath.

I learnt that from my big brother though he is different. He says the words straight as they come. But in all you will realise that it was for your good. He has a slogan, you don't have the right to criticise if you haven't ever praised me.

He is very straight forward but also very concerned about the hearers feelings.

He taught me how to use the Photoshop and it wasn't as easy as I had imagined but it wasn't impossible.
The first design I had created, I brought it to him to review it and share his thoughts.

He looked at it carefully. I could tell he immediately knew it was awful because many years later I saw that design and I almost threw up😂😂.

"Is this really your first time designing? He asked.
Obviously he knew it was.
Well, I must say for a first time, you tried your best, there is definitely a potential.

And there was the most dreadful word,

BUT, there are alot of things wrong with this design, I know they would improve with time but learn how to be a student first.

I listened and let his words make sense to me. His words were both inspiring and encouraging. I could feel deep down he had alot more to say but the idea was that I get the point that I really needed to sit under the tutorlage of an expert and practice more often.

I believe words never said could be regretted, but words said could be helpful.

Many teachers have their method of teaching. Some believe, you give your students the bitter kola and let them have it like that for what it is.
While others believe that you could also wrap it around sugar. Even though it's bitter, let the bitterness be like an after taste.
