A Trip Like Memories

Just like they use to say, there is a first time for everything, the first time I made a big travel always stuck like memories, well it is actually one of the moment I won't forget easily because at some point I was scared. After graduating from the University, we were expected to take a one year service and it is always everyone prayer not to be posted faraway from home, one reason why people prefer to u work theirs based on connection. During my nysc registration, I really didn't understand the part where we get to fill state we have been to, I would have lie a little if I knew and the guy registering me was just adding different states until the call up later came and I was posted to Adamawa States.
Like WTH, that is in the north and also 2days journey away from home, the longest journey I have covered wasn't up to 2hrs and that is from Ogun to Lagos, but now seeing Adamawa was freaking me out, taking a flight was a no no option back then, never been in one then and I the fee was 3x the price of taking a bus and as per someone that was managing then, bus was the only option, I had to start messaging my colleagues in school to know where they post them to and luckily for me, one of my friend was posted to the same state so we had to link up and find our way together, we met at the bus park and saw some new corps members going to the same camp and that calmed my mind a little, we spent hours at the park because they told us they can only move in the evening, so we all gist for the main time.
The ride wasn't that smooth, especially at night and we had only one drive, at some point I was asking myself how he manage to pull it off, he didn't sleep and we only stop like 4 times before we reach our destination, I wasn't comfortable though, many though was just running through my mind especially when how unsafe the country is cross my mind. We reach the destination and as usual, everywhere and everything felt strange, the camp area was worse, everywhere felt like sahara desert with hot sun beating down on us, the weather condition over there is weird and harsh and I wondered how those staying there were coping but with time, I got use to it and I rarely step outside.
