‎Ecuador Refused to Give Up – What a Comeback Against Germany!

‎‎I honestly didn't see this result coming.

‎When Germany scored inside the first two minutes through Leroy Sane, I thought the match was going to be a comfortable win for them. Ecuador had failed to score in their first two games, so conceding that early looked like the worst possible start for them.

‎But football has a funny way of proving us wrong.

‎Instead of falling apart, Ecuador responded almost immediately. Nilson Angulo's equaliser completely changed the atmosphere of the game. You could see the confidence growing with every attack, and suddenly Germany didn't look as comfortable as they had in the opening minutes.

‎One thing that stood out to me was Ecuador's mentality. They never looked like a team that had already accepted defeat. Every loose ball was contested, every attack had purpose, and they kept believing that another chance would come.

‎The VAR moments also made the match even more dramatic. Ecuador felt Germany's opening goal should have been ruled out, while Germany later celebrated winning a penalty only for VAR to overturn it after spotting a foul earlier in the move. Whether you love VAR or not, it definitely had a huge influence on the game.

‎Then came the moment that decided everything.

‎Gonzalo Plata's late goal in the 77th minutes sent the Ecuadorian fans into absolute celebration. I loved the reaction from the players because you could tell how much it meant to them. After struggling in the first two group matches, qualifying for the knockout stage must have felt like a reward for never giving up.

‎From Germany's perspective, this was probably a wake-up call. They started brilliantly but seemed to lose their structure as the game went on. Sometimes an early goal can make a team relax a little too much, and I think that's exactly what happened to them. They still have enough quality to challenge for the trophy, but they'll know they can't afford another performance like this in the knockout rounds.

‎As for Ecuador, they have earned plenty of respect. They may not be among the tournament favourites, but they have shown they have the heart and determination to compete with anyone. Teams that play with that kind of belief are always dangerous.

‎For me, this was one of the most entertaining games of the group stage. It had an early goal, plenty of drama, controversial VAR decisions, and a late winner. And more importantly, it reminded us why we all love football, and that you can never be too sure of the final outcome until the referee blows the whistle.
