Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
Good day people of hive learners and the entire hive community. It is me again bringing another amazing content your way. Today, we will be discussing mental health and how I deal with mine so feel free to drop your personal recommendations in the comment section. This article was inspired by the #hive-learners community. You guys are doing well👍👍.

Here in my beautiful country Nigeria, it was always a story we heard from the news or see in movies about how depression pushed people to committing suicide and I can vividly remember my response to those stories “this can’t happen in my country, we are too stubborn to let emotions take over”. I think that response was what other Nigerians were also thinking and even the ones going through the mental crisis will be bottling it up “I can handle this”. I guess the fault was that we all thought we were super humans, a special breed different from the rest and also that the government didn’t see it fit to create awareness on mental health. I can even remember a time like that during our youth week in church, I was called to debate on the topic “Can A Christian Get Depressed?” You should have seen me arguing against the motion that why should a Christian be depressed but now, I guess I know better.
Well I have an article currently in the draft about a particular gender dealing with this but that’s a story for another time. For this time, we will looking into
How do you survive with the crises around?
What are your tactics that keeps you sound enough to keep pushing no matter what?
Crises in my country.
I’m not trying to open the buttocks of my country but I just want to drive at a point here so please follow me.
So in my beautiful country where you have crises each day and there are still some we have accepted to be part of us.
From crises of corruption you will hear that one particular political took 50 billion dollars or you hear snake swallowed money or is it as a student, you are left to reason how will my life be after school like this after having 2 brothers that graduated before you with good grades and still haven’t had a good paying job due to unemployment. Or is it the stress from work and having to enter hours of traffic or could it be the sudden surge in prices leaving you be paused that “I just bought this same thing yesterday nah”
All these crises and more are what we face and for a foreigner coming in to face this, he might just give up and run back 😂😂😂
How do I deal with my own share?
It seems we might have kinda developed a coping mechanism that makes us feel at ease even if it’s for a second or for the time being. So I will be sharing my ways of dealing when I get overwhelmed with everything going on around me.
Some therapist will suggest going out on a vacation or something but just leave the vicinity but to others that suggestion alone is what will put them into more depressing moments because you will start thinking of raising extra. So as not to keep this write up too long, here are my personal tips.

Have a friend you can talk to and if possible. Whenever I am so beat down, I just take a stroll to my guy’s place and just talk. We also have this catch phrase “na who give up fuck up” this phrase has helped me alot.🅲🆁🆈.
Despite what the world has said especially about the male gender, you are still human and feelings get to you. So my brothers and my sisters, lock yourself up in a room and cry out those emotions stop bottling down the emotions and leaving them to grow. Let them out.
Find something doing that takes your mind off. Mine is ₲₳₥Ɇ.
Whenever I find myself starting to sit ideal and my head starts wandering, I just pick up my phone and play CODM 😁😁😁additionally, I also watch movies and trust me, it they have worked a lot. Yours might be reading, sleeping, taking a stroll etc.🅵🅾🅾🅳 😍😍😍
This one is one of the surest. If good food doesn’t help take your mind off things then omooo you really need that vacation. My guys and I if after a stressful week and we want to start the following week with good vibes, we go have either catfish pepper soup or get full chicken at Chicken republic. We had this thing going on that after each month, we reflect on the the past month and wash it with a treat from chicken republic that’s a way we pat ourselves on the back for surviving through. So always give yourself a treat.

I might sound biased to some but this is very effective for me. If you have been following my blog, there was a time I was going through alot and I just needed guidance and I just went on the floor faced down and cried to my maker. I asked for guidance and comfort to scale through the challenges and here I still am. So guys, there’s always an ear that’s ever ready to hear from you and He doesn’t ask for time out. So please when next you are overwhelmed with life and can’t do all the above, please lock your doors and windows and which ever position, just PRAY.

When I am stressed, I cannot eat even my regular diet. So that’s a suggestion not for me. Hehe.
Talking to someone is s good suggestion. However, I think there is a need to be cautious about whom you talk. Some people only increase the depression.
It's a stereotype that men are not supposed to cry. If God didn't want them to cry, He wouldn't have given the ability of tear formation.
