Lol never thought I'd hear you say you spent 3k on a cat in this lifetime, haha. But I see it was more a favour to the son than the cat. I missed what the cat has exactly.. sounds a bit harsh to not let a cat go if someone really isn't able to come up with 3k, I mean, it's a lot of money.

How can a vet prefer the cat suffering over letting them go peacefully, I wonder. I mean, of course they are 100% correct to first see if the owner can't come up with it after all, because surely many people will take the easy route (sadly) otherwise. But if your son wouldn't have such a cool dad to lend the money, would he really need to see his cat suffer for months without a vet helping to end this suffering? That's quite harsh to read..

I mean, even traumatizing for your son if it were to go that way. You saved him from that, and the cat in fact lol. You know I'm a cat lover so I get where your son is coming from, lol.

I did not lend him the money, I gave him a years allowance and Xmas and Bday money. I did not want him to have any debt with me and he came up with the last 1K. I still think itยดs crazy but I am very impressed with my son.

Even better! And yes, it's impressive that a guy of his age would do anything to gather the 3k for his cat. He's a good cookie! :)

He is, and he really likes that cat....but still 3K???? Anyway I was really impressed because he used his money, which in my mind is more valuable than lending.

For sure, but what does the cat have exactly? And I really think a vet should at least help the cat from his suffering if an owner won't be able to come up with the cash..

He told me but I really dont remember, it needed an operation and all would be good. But without it the cat would die in a few weeks and in agony-

In these type of cases the owner should have a choice, because that kind of money is crazy. And if you can not come up with it, you will make the animal suffer while it could have been avoided

Yeah sounds really wrong to me honestly. Maybe the vet saw that your son may be able to come up with the money and thought this was a little extra pressure lol. Either way, happy the cat will be ok!
