I hate you can't just buy anything anymore. Everything has to be some damn subscription. I am done with it.

I am going back old school... physical movies, music, my own data server, self-hosted websites, and I am about to build out an in house AI computer that's going to cost me like 5K, but it will be mine and my ideas won't be training some public model and giving them to everyone else, nor will my prompts and data be tracked and recorded by a corporation.

The only monthly sub I am keeping is Amazon Prime, because when you live in the sticks and can get free shipping in 2 days or less, yeah, and as much as I order, yeah, that's a worthy subscription, lol. Everything else is going buy buy... Get it... LOL

I feel the same way. It's the point systems that get me. Earn X points worth X dollars for purchasing XXX amount of X. Just list the product for the sale price. What a pain all that nonsense is.

Oh for sure. I mean, you have to hand it to these companies. They figured out how to get as much out of the people as they could. I saw things heading this way when I worked for Apple. Then when Adobe came out with their CC subscription right after I paid $1300 for the CS6 suite basically making that shit obsolete, I was like f*ck you!

Good luck with that! I also hate that everything is being transformed to a subscription, but its also hard to conpletly remove from it.

I am down to Prime and the family Apple account, lol. My buddy still actively downloads from thepiratebay so I just take hard drives over there, copy a bunch of files, and do a bunch of dabs in the process, lol, because that's how we work best, lol.

Funny thing is, this same friend was one of the original pirates, he was sued by Lars from Metallica during the whole Napster thing because he was one of the ones actually adding shit to the original CD Database, lol. He stopped that but he's never stopped torrenting though, lol. He has a whole RAID system of media files, lol.

Hehe that's so cool! Pirating is again starting to look very interesting. Maybe we will see a new resurging of Pirate Bay usage

I considered getting back into vinyl DJing, but damn a decent setup is expensive, lol. Not to mention the records... I have a 7 inch table and started stacking old 45s.

Couldn't agree more on the annoyance of subscriptions crap. Every darn thing is a subscription. My kid can't even play a game on his ipad without having a freaking subscription otherwise it's ridiculously ad heavy.

Ha ha, sometimes I feel like everybody wants part of our money. Always Invitation to subscribe, try a 'free' trial for days or months...

recurring revenue is amazing for a business that sells it. No other sales model is as effective as this one.

That’s why everything is a subscription nowadays.

Oh i get why they do it, I just don't like it for myself, that's why I am done with it and just going to build out my own infrastructure, lol. Going against the herd, lol.

After the initial setup costs are dramatically lower if you run it locally
