That bit about one TV in the hall really hit me, it taught us patience and sharing, and it kept the finacial burn low for middle class homes. I agree that giving full privacy too early can backfire, especially when gadgets multiply and and parents dont keep track. From a budget view, one family device in common spaces is a simple guardrail for both money and behavior :) One TV kept the peace and saved the wallet too, funny how the old ways still work.
