The Value of Commitment: A Lesson in Musical Dedication and Opportunity.
When you are told that music is almost everything and that if you are really a music person, you must value it with all your strength and mind. Music is not just something you do with levity. It happened that I was invited to a program; actually, it was a church music concert, and we were invited to perform a classical song and some music harmony. Since we had been told for some time, we decided to have some time to rehearse, but the thing is that most people won't show up for rehearsal because they did not know we would be going for the program.
The music director was annoyed, and he decided that he would just go with the little people he saw, and they would both rehearse. Then, when the time was right for the program, he announced the outing to the official group and made a mistake by saying that we were going to be having rehearsals for the outing we would be going on. On the next rehearsal, there were many people, even beyond the normal people that have been coming before.
The music director then decided that when we will be going for the outing, everyone won't go, and he personally told some not to come because the bus taking us there can only take 20 people, and the maximum is 22 if we are to manage. Yesterday was the program, and we agreed on where to meet to take the bus. When we got there, I was surprised to see even more people definitely wanting to go because of the outing, and they know it is a very big event, so they just wanted to showcase themselves, not considering those that have been doing their rehearsal since.
The driver did not agree to take everyone, so we had no choice but to pick only those that had been coming for rehearsal. Music is just more than going out to sing, but is what you are singing quality music that is presentable to anyone listening to it? When we got to the event, we met a series of top artists there, and it was a big honor for me to be in such gatherings where I see myself as the least amongst great men of valor who really know music than me.
But along the line we did what we had to do and they were really satisfied with what we did also we were given a verbal invitation to another big musical concert which will be holding next month in one of the top cathedrals in the city. It is a conjunction of choirs coming together to become one music body and to create lovely music. I will surely share the full details about the event and how it goes when the time is right.
Keep up the good work. 👏🎵
