Talent Wants Ease, Mastery Demands Effort.

Sometimes some people just wake up and come to me saying that they want to learn music, and most of the time the only response I give to them back is for them to show me a true sign that they are willing and ready to give all it takes to learn the music, or instead they get their own musical instrument for them to learn fast, and for those who want to learn theory about music, I do suggest to them that they must be attentive and also get their necessary materials like their book and other things. But I know that these people are not going to do it because they are not ready for such stress, and the only thing they think of is just for them to know how to play and for people to say that they are doing it.

I remembered back then when I was still trying to learn a musical instrument, I once had a friend who knew how to play, and I spoke to him to put me through, but the only thing he told me is that I can't do it. But I ask a question: is it that I can't do it or you just don't want to teach me? But he told me that I couldn't do it, and then I told him that I accepted his challenge. Then I went to someone else to pay, and that is why today when people ask me how I was able to learn and scale through to this stage, the only thing I tell them is that I have been dedicated and I was determined that I would surely know how to play musical instruments.

Recently a friend of mine reached out to me to say that she was also interested and that she had a music competition, which I knew about, and she would need me to put her through some music terms and some music patterns so that she could win in the competition. I decided to agree to her offer because I knew she had gone for a music competition like that before, and she came back with a third position. But the sad part was that the price was for the first and the second alone, so I decided to put her through. But aside from the fact that she is my friend, I still stood on my rules, which were to ensure that she was very up and doing with everything we will be doing, and she agreed.

After about a week of learning, she gave up and ran away and stopped coming for the lessons again. I tried to reach out to her to know why she had stopped coming, and she said she could not cope with the stress of learning new things, especially the way she felt with her hands trying to learn the keyboard. When she said this, I smiled at how lazy she wants to become because a competition means that you must be well prepared and grinded musically before you can stand out to win any prize. But then I just had to let her be, and I will be waiting for when the competition will be near and she will want to run back for some lesson. Then I might as well not be available for that by then.
