Staying True to Myself Despite Peer Pressure.
Peer pressure is something I have definitely faced sometimes lowkey, other times loud and obvious. I have learned that the urge to “fit in” often comes from a fear of being left out, not from genuine desire.

I remember back in my university days, some of my friends decided to skip a major class because they felt the lecturer wouldn’t show up, they tried to convince me to join them, saying, “Everyone is leaving, don’t stress yourself.” For a moment, I almost gave in, but I remembered what my mum always tells me that “Don’t follow the crowd, follow your values.” That principle has shaped me deeply, I chose to stay, and interestingly, the lecturer came that day and even took attendance. That single decision taught me the power of standing firm.
So now, whenever I feel pressured, whether it is to act, dress, or spend in a certain way, I usually pause and think deeply before making any decision. I ask myself, “Will this make me proud later, or will it make me regretful?” That quick reflection helps me make choices that align with my values.
I have also learned to surround myself with people who respect my boundaries and share similar goals. It is easier to stand firm when your circle understands your principles.
At the end of the day, staying true to yourself might feel tough at the moment, but the peace that comes with self respect lasts much longer than temporary approval.
It's important to stay true to oneself.
Very important 💯
