Ending the School Year 2024-2025: The Heartfelt Side of Graduation!
Closing books is only one aspect of the school year; it also marks the start of new experiences, beginnings, and lifelong memories.
Late-night study sessions, stress, group projects, and laughter in between classes all lead up to one day: graduation. It's a combination of relief, pride, nostalgia, and excitement all in one big moment.
Suddenly, you're walking across that stage, hearing your name, smiling for pictures, and thinking, "Wow, we made it again." It's like the end of a chapter you never expected.
At Buhawen Elementary School, we celebrated Moving Up, Recognition, and the highly anticipated graduation day on April 11, 2025.
As a teacher, I can't help but cry whenever I see graduation day. When we celebrate graduations, I get very emotional, and I struggle to articulate my feelings like others do.
Aside from us educators, many parents look forward to graduation because it celebrates their child's accomplishment and triumph.
Many parents, particularly in countries like the Philippines, see their child's graduation as the realization of a long-held dream that they might not have had otherwise. It is a watershed moment that opens up new possibilities. Parents know graduation can lead to better opportunities, a brighter future, and possibly even a better family life. Seeing their child cross the stage in a cap and gown frequently brings tears to their eyes. It was a watershed moment that embodied pride, love, and gratitude.
It's an indescribable sensation as if watching it unfold fills your heart with emotion.
It's more than just a ceremony when you see each student cross the stage with nervous and proud eyes, their parents smile, and the audience cry happy tears. It is a collection of stories about overcoming adversity, studying through the night, silent sacrifices, and minor triumphs that finally receive recognition.
Teachers feel pride, fulfillment, and a mild sense of heartbreak with each graduation.
As the school year 2024-2025 comes to a close, we see more than just students walking across the stage—we see growth, struggles, and transformations. Every lesson taught, piece of advice given, and late night spent checking papers or comforting a student all lead up to that moment.
It means everything to us when our students shine, succeed, and are recognized for their efforts. We remember who was shy, struggled, blossomed, and is now confidently walking the stage.
We guided these young souls for almost a year. It is never easy to say goodbye, especially if you have grown attached. However, seeing students succeed and know they helped them get there is worth every farewell.
Teaching is a calling, not simply a job. Graduation also demonstrates that every effort, even during difficult times, was worthwhile. The "thank yous," embraces, and student letters were incredibly heartfelt.
Knowing that we gave it our all and completed the school year with honors. Teachers are not always given the credit they deserve, but we leave with pride, honor, and love on graduation day.
Trust me, if you've ever seen a teacher try to hide their tears at graduation, you know they're more than just sad. They are tears of goodbye, love, and legacy.
Indeed, it is one remarkable moment and most of us look forward to it.
Yes, the most awaited and memorable day for most of us. 🤗♥️
