The New Protein Plus Range from McDonalds

It seems that now every other brand operating in India is integrating Protein into their Brands. After protein water, kulfi and dahi, brand's obsession with protein has made its way to the OG fast food giant, McDonald's. Oh, the irony of eating healthy at McDonald's is just bonkers.

So, McDonald's launched its Protein Plus range with a 100% vegetarian protein slice made from pea and soy, which adds 5 grams of protein to any burger for 25 rupees extra. This sounds like a great offer but,
There's something oddly funny and kind of genius about this. Funny because you feel like you're making a healthier choice even though you might still be eating a burger, fries or a soft drink right after.

This is called a health halo, giving the illusion of eating better by adding a healthy component without actually changing the food itself.

And genius because it's catered to the Indian audience, keeping it 100% vegetarian with no artificial flavours and free from onion and garlic. This means they can cater to almost 100 percent of the Indian Population.

Plus, it was developed in collaboration with CFTRI under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
