In the past I have often confused the snail with the slug.
The points in common between snails and slugs are really many, but there is a very important difference between them.
The snail, unlike the snail, does not have a shell.
The snail, not having a protection like the shell, seeks shelter in small places, such as in crevices and holes in wood or holes in rocks; the snail, on the other hand, has its portable house (the shell) and feels freer to explore.
The snail is a terrestrial gastropod mollusc belonging to the gastropod class. It is known for its spiral shell, which protects it from predators and atmospheric agents. The shell is made of calcium carbonate.
The scientific name of the snail is fascinating, it is Helix
It lives in humid environments, such as woods, gardens, meadows and cultivated fields. During dry or cold periods it withdraws into its shell, sealing it with a mucus membrane called epiphragm, to avoid dehydration.
The snail is herbivorous and is hermaphrodite (they have both male and female organs)
One of the most interesting things about the snail is its speed, or rather its slowness. In fact, it travels on average at 1 mm per second
Thoughts
A few evenings ago, while I was walking, I found this snail along a path that slowly slowly wanted to reach the opposite side of the path.
I love these slow and calm little animals. In many cultures the snail is a symbol of patience.
To achieve your goals in life you have to be patient, just like a snail.

Spesso in passato ho confuso la lumaca con la chiocciola.
I punti in comune tra lumache e chiocciole sono davvero tantissimi, ma tra di loro c’è una differenza molto importante.
La lumaca, a differenza della chiocciola, non ha il guscio.
La lumaca, non avendo una protezione come il guscio, cerca riparo in piccoli posti, come nelle insenature e nei buchi del legno o i fori delle rocce; la chiocciola, invece ha la sua casina portatile (il guscio) e si sente più libera di esplorare.
La chiocciola è un mollusco gasteropode terrestre appartenente alla classe dei gastropodi. È conosciuta per il suo guscio a spirale, che la protegge dai predatori e dagli agenti atmosferici. Il guscio è fatto di carbonato di calcio.
Il nome scientifico della chiocciola è affascinante, è Helix
Essa vive in ambienti umidi, come boschi, giardini, prati e campi coltivati. Durante periodi secchi o freddi si ritira nel guscio, sigillandolo con una membrana di muco chiamata epifragma, per evitare la disidratazione.
La chiocciola è erbivora e sono ermafrodite (possiedono sia organi maschili che femminili)
Una tra le cose più interessanti della chiocciola è la sua velocità, o meglio la sua lentezza. Essa infatti viaggia in media ad 1 mm al secondo
Pensieri
Qualche sera fa, mentre passeggiavo, ho trovato lungo un vialetto, questa chiocciola che lenta lenta voleva raggiungere il lato opposto del viale.
Io adoro questi animaletti lenti e tranquilli. In molte culture la chiocciola è simbolo di pazienza.
Per raggiungere i propri obiettivi nella vita bisogna essere pazienti, esattamente come una chiocciola.
