MetaSleuth Review: Powerful Crypto Tracking and Investigation Platform
Have you ever been scammed of your coins, maybe through a phishing link or hacking, and thought your money was gone forever? Have you lost funds through a rug pull and want to identify fake projects early enough? Then I believe that you should get to know @MetaSleuth.
MetaSleuth is a crypto tracking and investigating platform that helps monitor market movements, track fund flow of criminal activities, and also helps to conduct due diligence to avoid being scammed. This is why I say MetaSleuth is your go-to tool for tracking down lost funds and preventing future scams.
To begin with tracking lost funds, visit the MetaSleuth website: metasleuth.io, and at the top right corner of your screen, click sign up. From there, you can register with email or continue with Google.
Then you can select the chain and input either the address, ENS name, or tx hash and press Enter to analyze.
And if you are making use of address, you can make use of advance search:

Visualizing the transactions
I like that the transaction is like a tree pattern. I get it can be looking too complex, but we can make it easy. We will be covering what I call nodes and edges.
Node
Nodes are of two types, and can be a regular node or a cross-bridge node. Here there are regular nodes, which contain addresses on the blockchains or exchanges.

Example of a regular node
A bridge node shows that there is a cross-chain bridge protocol, in which there may have been assets crossing different blockchains.

Edges
They are found in between nodes, indicating the transfer of assets. You can call them relationships between nodes. They are of three types:
Regular asset transfer: This is simply the transfer of assets between addresses in the same network.
Cross-chain asset transfer: This is the transfer of assets between blockchains.
contract creation: For smart contract token creation.

Using the Investigation Tool

The investigation tool allows you to filter by addresses or tokens. It also allows you to add specific addresses or transactions. You also have Add Memo, which allows you to add text annotations to explain specific transactions and addresses.
The Editing Tool Box
The Editing toolbox gives you added functionality to change the appearance of nodes, edges, and memos.

The Address Panel

By clicking on an address panel, you get to see the transfer details and related addresses. The address panel also gives you the ability to filter the transactions.

From the image above, you get to filter by datetime, block range, direction (either in, out, or both), and a lot more.
Using MetaSleuth to track Stolen Funds
Below is a tutorial available on MetaSleuth Docs
The video shows how the tools were used to track down stolen Matic from a particular wallet. I am really impressed in how it was able to easily filter tokens and make it easy to trace down Matic.
It is also more impressive that the tool was able to follow up on the transaction to know what asset the token was swapped to and access the transaction hash.
By simply adding the transaction hash, you can see the token in which the initial asset was swapped to.
MetaSleuth gives you the ability to continue monitoring the transactions as shown in the video. By doing this, when you notice the asset has landed on a centralized exchange, you can easily contact the legal authorities and request information from these exchanges in order to retrieve your stolen assets.
Pros of Using This Tool
- The fact that this tool can monitor a transaction gives it a score from me. The real-time monitoring notification via gmail is a really useful feature.
- You don't have to be a Pro user or upgrade to premium to use the tool. It is easily accessible for most of its features. Although you may have to subscribe to make use of track through the Solana network.
It doesn't end there!!!
Talking about Solana, there are lots of exciting features you can find on MetaSleuth to track wallet activities and transactions for free.
And this feature is called:

The Solana Watcher
With the Solana watcher, you can have access to the trending meme page and the smart money page. The trending Meme page gives you access to monitor price changes in trending Meme coins, track and monitor the deployer's address and the top 10 Holders percentage.
With this information, you can make informed decisions about whether a particular meme coin is worth investing in. As for me, I will not invest in a coin where there is more than 50% of the tokens held by the top 10 holders. This shows the possibility that a rugpull can happen.
Here is the smart money section, where you can see the list of addresses with the most realized profit in the past 7 days. In this section, you can track these addresses and monitor them for any transactions they make. Isn't this cool?
