Where Memories Are Made: The Magic of Family Gatherings...

Festive seasons are longed for not just because of the varieties of food, but, because of the rollercoaster of emotions we derive from numerous family gatherings during the period... Much more when your family is a united one where everyone loves and celebrates the progress of another.

I really did enjoyed my festive season this year a lot because of these gatherings. I travelled back for the festivities on Christmas Eve to my father's land, where I was welcomed warmly. My family were already there keeping things in order before my arrival so when I came there was little or nothing left to do.

I was too tired to attend the vigil mass that evening, so I opted going for the mass on Christmas day instead. After which we ate the food and that was it... There wasn't much family gatherings in my father's village because my dad is the only son so we were left alone with just one of my cousin's family that stay in the village.

Fast forward to December 28, 2024 when we came to my mum's village... This was the heart of family gatherings and where the real fun began. The house was filled to the brim with cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews everywhere that finding a place to sleep became a challenge. Yet, none seemed to mind where they ended up resting at night because the atmosphere was filled with joy and it was always fun.

The family gathering started with my aunt's thanksgiving at the church which we all attended, soon after the Thanksgiving, everyone gathered around and we were all discussing various topics and catching up on each other's lives with regards to school, business, personal endeavours, asking everyone how they were faring in their different life ordeals.

You've got to trust the mothers with their tease telling some of my relatives who were of age to get married but yet to marry to do so this year giving them ultimatum jokingly, lol.

Personally, no one teased me though because I just graduated and I am not of age yet, hehehe, however , they couldn't resist the urge of not saying anything to me and one of my aunties said I was getting fat and we all bursted into laughter, lol.

These family gatherings are always time for reconnection, time to see your distant cousins, loved ones, share moments and make memories with them.
One of my uncles always make it more fun when he gathers us around to tell us stories; folktales he already told us before but guess what? It's always still fun to us.

It's not that it was the first time we were hearing the stories nor that the stories were that splendid for you not to get tired of, but, the aura and joy that comes from everyone; the gatherings sitting in mats makes it whole lot better and something to enjoy.

Family gatherings are not always perfect, but, that is what makes them special because in the midst of those imperfections still rolls out laughter.
