En este post te contaré varias cosas, la primera sobre un cuerpo extraño que le salió a mi perrito, la segunda sobre una consulta veterinaria y la última detalles de la peluquería.

¿Qué será lo que tiene Duke?

Desde hace varios meses le viene creciendo una pelota en su cuerpo, la primera vez que se lo sentí pensé que era una garrapata, era diminuta y creí que se le caería o se quedaría de ese tamaño, pero fue creciendo poco a poco hasta el punto de verse como un grano, ocasionándole picor.

Cómo ha ido creciendo y no es algo normal, le pregunté a su veterinaria y le envié las fotos que les muestro, ella me dijo que parecía ser una bola de grasa o una verruga, para estar más segura tenía que quitárselo y hacerle una biopsia. 🥴😫😱

Pasaron unos meses y necesitaba un corte en la peluquería, tenía las uñas largas, muchos nudos en la barriga e inglés porque él no se deja cortar los nudos conmigo, es de mal carácter y tengo que llevarlo a peluquería cada 6 u 8 meses y allí mismo está su veterinaria, entonces aproveche e hice esas dos diligencias.

Consulta veterinaria

En la consulta, le sacan sangre para la hematología completa, le miden la temperatura, le escuchan sus pulmones y el corazón, y lo revisan por todas partes. Al ver que todo está bien, preguntan si hay algo específico que me preocupe y le enseñé la pelotita. La veterinaria la observó y me repitió lo que me había dicho: que parecía una verruga, pero no podía quitársela si no se le hacía un procedimiento con anestesia y se enviaba a patología, incrementando la consulta de 40 $ más 150 $ por el procedimiento.

Lamentablemente, no contaba con tal presupuesto y no se hizo nada 😪.

Como no es algo que le supura líquido, que crezca a gran velocidad y es una sola, lo más probable es que sea algo benigno y que sea solo grasa, pero esto le afecta su calidad de vida, ya que le pica y tengo que estar pendiente de avisarle al peluquero no se lo vaya a arrancar con las máquinas por accidente.

Resultados de la peluquería

Él llega como si fuera un ovejo viejo y sale rejuvenecido, su tiempo en la peluquería se me hace eterno porque me dan nervios que algo malo pueda pasar, que él muerda a quien le presta el servicio, pero los nervios ese día se me pasaron más rápido mientras iban llegando otros animalitos y conversaba con dueños, en común todos los padres de estas mascotas estamos nerviosos y preocupados por ellos.

Ese día me emocioné cuando vi entrar a uno de la misma raza de Duke, un cocker quería que fuera hembra para ver si por fin encontraba una novia para él, pero no era otro macho. 😔

Al final Duke salió lindo, alegre y con muchas ganas de irse a casa, mientras yo sigo un poquito preocupada por esa masa extraña.

What could be wrong with Duke?

For several months, a lump has been growing on his body. The first time I felt it, I thought it was a tick, it was tiny and I thought it would fall off or stay that size, but it kept growing gradually to the point of looking like a pimple, causing him itchiness.

As it has been growing and it's not normal, I asked his vet and sent her the photos I'm showing you. She told me it seemed to be a fatty tumor or a wart, to be sure she had to remove it and do a biopsy. 🥴😫😱

A few months passed, and he needed a grooming session. He had long nails, many knots on his belly and legs because he doesn't let me cut the knots, he has a bad temper and I have to take him to the groomer every 6 to 8 months, and his vet is there at the same place, so I took advantage and did these two errands together.

Veterinary consultation

During the consultation, they take blood for a complete hematology test, measure his temperature, listen to his lungs and heart, and examine him all over. When they saw everything was okay, they asked if there was anything specific I was worried about, and I showed them the lump. The vet observed it and repeated what she had told me: that it seemed like a wart, but she couldn't remove it without a procedure under anesthesia and sending it for pathology, raising the cost to $40 more for the consultation and $150 for the procedure.

Unfortunately, I didn't have that budget, so nothing was done 😪.

Since it's not something that oozes liquid, grows rapidly, and it's just one lump, it's most likely benign and just fat, but it affects his quality of life because it itches, and I have to make sure to warn the groomer not to accidentally remove it with the grooming tools.

Grooming results

He arrives looking like an old sheep and leaves rejuvenated, his time at the groomer's feels eternal to me because I get nervous that something bad might happen, that he might bite the person grooming him, but my nerves eased faster that day as other pets and owners arrived and we chatted, all us pet parents are nervous and worried about them.

I got excited when I saw another cocker of the same breed as Duke come in that day, I wanted it to be a female so they could be a pair, but it turned out to be another male. 😔

In the end, Duke came out looking cute, happy, and eager to go home, while I remain a little worried about that strange lump.
