Part of your World By Abby Jimenez | Book Review

Hello, dear Bookworms. I continue on this adventure of reading books. After several months of reading high fantasy and many rather dense works, I needed to clear my head a little by reading something that would warm my heart. That's why today I'm bringing you this review of a romantic comedy book written by Abby Jimenez: Part of Your World.

Después de varios meses leyendo alta fantasía y muchas cosas un poco densas, necesitaba despejarme un poco leyendo algo que le diera calorcito a mi corazón. Es por eso que hoy vengo con esta reseña de un libro de comedia romántica escrita por Abby Jimenez: Part of your World.

The world of brilliant emergency room doctor Alexis Montgomery collides with the peaceful, laid-back world of small-town Daniel Grant, a carpenter and B&B manager with a crazy dog and a baby goat. They meet and begin a relationship in their unequal worlds, where the age difference is the least of their problems. Could they continue their mismatched relationship? Alexis would have to leave her job in the emergency room at the hospital with 125 years of Montgomery legacy behind her. Or would Daniel be able to leave his town behind, with his neighbors and childhood friends and his family's ancestral home, to follow Alexis into a world full of prejudice?

El mundo de la brillante Doctora de urgencias, Alexis Montgomery, se estrella contra el apacible y relajado mundo del pueblerino Daniel Grant, un carpintero y administrador de un B & B con un perro loco y una cabrita bebé. Se conocen y empiezan una relación en sus mundos desiguales, en el que la diferencia de edad es el menor de sus problemas. ¿Podrían continuar su dispar relación? In a touching and very human plot, the author details the problems a person can suffer after an abusive separation and how difficult it is to start a new relationship. I have to say that many times, while reading, I felt frustrated by the decisions and actions of the protagonists. In fact, I came to consider Alexis a terrible woman who took advantage of Daniel's love, and Daniel a pushover. Although it is fair to say that he is a perfect Book Boyfriend, the reasons why he was thinking of leaving his world for Alexis were completely acceptable, only she did not deserve him. By the time I was 80% of the way through the novel, I wanted to know how she would get out of this soap opera that the writer had created. It was a quagmire, and it had to end well, leaving Daniel, Alexis, and their legacies in good standing.

In the end, there were a lot of detestable people, and the character I liked the most was a secondary one, who is none other than Bri, Alexis' best friend. She had her head screwed on right and thought like me. I also liked that when I found out there is a second book based on Bri's point of view, I put it on my TBR. I want to know what this character thinks and does.

What I like about these romantic comedies, which are chick flicks, is that we often come looking for lighthearted entertainment and end up learning something beautiful where we weren't looking for it. The fact that I felt one way or another about a character speaks to the construction of these characters and the work behind the author. Yes, it's a cliché, but sometimes we need these to escape from the everyday.

It's a fairly light, short novel that you can enjoy during your evenings off. If you like romance, you'll love Abby.

En una trama enternecedora y muy humana, la autora nos detalla los problemas que puede sufrir una persona tras una separación abusiva y como cuesta comenzar una nueva relación. Tengo que decir que muchas veces, durante mi lectura, me sentí frustrada por las decisiones y los actos de los protagonistas. De hecho, llegué a considerar a Alexis como una terrible mujer que se aprovechaba del amor de Daniel, y también que Daniel era un migajero. Aunque es válido decir que es un perfecto Book Boyfriend, las razones por las que él pensaba dejar su mundo por Alexis eran completamente aceptables, solo que ella no se lo merecía. Ya en el 80% de la novela, quería saber como saldría de este culebrón que había armado la escritora, porque era un atolladero y tenía que salir bien, dejando bien a Daniel, a Alexis y a sus legados.

Al final, hubo un montón de gente detestable, y el personaje que más me gustó fue uno secundario, que no es más que Bri, la mejor amiga de Alexis, que tenía la cabeza bien puesta sobre los hombros y pensaba como yo. Me cayó también que cuando me enteré de que hay un segundo libro basado en el punto de vista de Bri, lo puse en mi TBR. Quiero saber lo que piensa y hace este personaje.

Lo que me gusta de estas comedias románticas, que son un chick flick, es que muchas veces venimos buscando cosas ligeras y nos terminamos llevando un aprendizaje bonito donde no lo buscamos. El hecho de que me sintiera de una u otra manera con algún personaje, habla de la construcción de estos personajes y del trabajo detrás de su autora. Sí, es un cliché, pero a veces nos hacen falta estos para salir de lo cotidiano.

Es una novela bastante ligera, corta y que puedes disfrutar durante tus tardes de descanso. Si te gusta el romance, Abby te va a encantar.
