I just read about a Tesla Model 3 owner who saved $4,469 in 50K miles compared to a gas car. Charging cost him $2,840 vs. $7,296 for a gas car! It’s crazy how much less electric vehicles cost in the long run, especially when you factor in lower maintenance and insurance.

Do you own a Tesla?
Is this data true?

I don't own a Tesla so I can't comment on the above figures. However, in my experience maintenance costs are less (service only needed every two years). Charging vs. fuel is much more economic. In the UK, insurance is high.

Are you saying you don't have to pay insurance on electric cars, or that it's no different to gas vehicles? Although I have not been able to do a direct comparison, my last insurance payment was very high,

No you'd have to pay insurance for all vehicles.

In the UK, insurance is high.

I was asking if that's for the electric vehicles.

Gas numbers look right. However, a Tesla is a lot more than I would spend on a car and if you can't buy it outright you also have to factor in financing costs of a (potentially much) more expensive car.

so unless you can pay in cash it's better you don't go for it?
