Noches blancas...

Acabé de terminar de leer Noches Blancas, de Dostoyevski.
Al pie de los márgenes dibujé con el lápiz digital algunas caritas en formato emoji que al mismo tiempo se dibujaban en mi rostro mientras leía.
¿Cómo puede haber tanto en común entre un reel, memes del 2025 y un texto que se escribió en 1848? me da gracia pensar que somos demasiado humanos, volátiles, pasionales, con un amor a veces excesivo por la pena.

Hago el puente entre el texto y la época actual a través de los siguientes puntos:
1.- las situationships (relaciones efímeras de la actualidad que no llegan a nada por múltiples razones, supremacía del placer inmediato, la prescindibilidad de las personas, la nula responsabilidad afectiva, múltiples posibilidades que se creen tener con otras personas...)
2.- lo que he escuchado en consulta como "paloma migajera" (hacer todo por otra persona, demostrarle cariño y amor a cambio de muy poco)
3.- El no estar disponible emocionalmente, sea porque una de las partes quiere a otra persona o de entrada ya está con otra persona.
4.- La friendzoneada, que en sí misma es confusa y conveniente: el que no quiere una relación no pierde nada, y gana la atención y el amor del otro. El que quería se conforma, pero dependiendo de los límites que marque, también se confunde, frustra...
5.- Enamorarse de un ideal: En medio de esta época donde todo es rápido y olvidable, la sensación de soledad y de querer experimentar algo a nivel emocional (conexión, no solo placer) puede hacer que forcemos la realidad a un ideal, lo que es lo mismo que le sucede al protagonista: enamorarse rápidamente, no de Nastenka, sino de la posibilidad de amar y no estar solo.

Si ya de por sí lo humano es complejo, cuando se trata de relaciones todo se complica un poco más. Pero si me voy de la psicología y me centro en la literatura, ¡Qué deleite de lectura!

I just finished reading Dostoyevsky's White Nights.
At the bottom of the margins I drew with the digital pencil some little faces in emoji format that at the same time were drawn on my face while I was reading.
How can there be so much in common between a reel, memes of 2025 and a text that was written in 1848? I am amused to think that we are too human, volatile, passionate, with a sometimes excessive love for grief.

I make the bridge between the text and the present time through the following points:
1.- the situationships (ephemeral relationships of today that come to nothing for multiple reasons, supremacy of immediate pleasure, the dispensability of people, the null affective responsibility, multiple possibilities that we believe we have with other people...).
2.- What I have heard in consultation as "crumb pigeon" (to do everything for another person, to show affection and love in exchange for very little).
3.- Not being emotionally available, either because one of the parties wants another person or because he/she is already with another person.
4.- The friendzone, which in itself is confusing and convenient: the one who does not want a relationship does not lose anything, and gains the attention and love of the other. The one who wanted is satisfied, but depending on the limits he/she sets, he/she also gets confused, frustrated?
5.- Falling in love with an ideal: In the midst of this era where everything is fast and forgettable, the feeling of loneliness and wanting to experience something on an emotional level (connection, not just pleasure) can make us force reality to an ideal, which is the same thing that happens to the protagonist: falling in love quickly, not with Nastenka, but with the possibility of loving and not being alone.

If human beings are already complex, when it comes to relationships everything gets a little more complicated. But if I leave psychology and focus on literature, what a delight to read!
