Autocuidado

Cuidarse no tendría por qué ser un acto esporádico.
No tenemos que esperar a que suceda algo extraordinario para tratarnos bien, pensar en nuestra salud, protegernos de aquello que sabemos altera y desorganiza nuestra estabilidad física y mental.
No siempre es agradable comer "de forma saludable", por ejemplo, pero es necesario. Lo mismo con otros easpectos de nuestra vida: relaciones, descanso y ocio, movimiento.
Algunas personas pasan toda la vida postergando el cuidado, y la vida se nos puede escapar de las manos en ello. No busco instaurar nuevas reglas ni imponer creencias, pues como se ve Ser cuidadoso con uno mismo variará de persona a persona. Lo que sé y lo que incluso todos hemos llegado a experimentar es... cuánto podemos ser capaces de descuidarnos.
Y allí puede aparecer la culpa y la desesperanza "quizás es demasiado tarde". Realmente no lo es, empieza ya, empieza hoy. Cuídate.

Taking care of yourself doesn't have to be a sporadic act.
We don't have to wait for something extraordinary to happen to treat ourselves well, think about our health, and protect ourselves from things that we know disrupt and destabilize our physical and mental well-being.
It's not always pleasant to eat “healthily,” for example, but it's necessary. The same goes for other aspects of our lives: relationships, rest and leisure, exercise.
Some people spend their whole lives putting off taking care of themselves, and life can slip through our fingers in the process. I am not seeking to establish new rules or impose beliefs, because, as you can see, “taking care of oneself” will vary from person to person. What I know, and what we have all come to experience, is how much we are capable of neglecting ourselves.
And that is where guilt and despair can set in: “maybe it's too late.” It really isn't. Start now, start today. Take care of yourself.
