Splinterlands Strategies: Never Sell Grain Lands!

Whoops, that was a big fuckup. Only 4 weeks ago I was intent on dumping anything Splinterlands. The cards, the nodes, the SPS, the Land, the DEC, the XBOT tokens… it was all going and HIVE would be the benefactor.
For the most part, my mindset is unchanged and today I have zero nodes, less than 400 SPS, zero XBOT tokens, all my DEC, many of my cards and most of the land.
So why the whoops?
…don’t ever sell Grain generating lands…
The monsters need to eat, and even Grain generators don’t yield that much as those famished critters tending the fields eat most of their own harvest.
1.75 Land was released and it all got interesting again. My digital property portfolio is.., or was more aligned to Rivers, Lakes, and Bogs so I was doing fine, but as I was selling up it was a moot point.
I did have 18 lands in the region Rason Detiir, many of them Bogs, and Rivers. This would be the first step in dumping all the land, and what do I get as a side benefit?

...'Rason Detiir used to yield me a lot more than these couple of Grain lands, I regret selling them now'...
Lots of DEC being released; well great, the HIVE account was expanding and 270,00 HIVE was in my sights. One day, I would break that HIVE Whale barrier and make no mistake, that will happen.
Some of the Rason Detiir were Hills, Forests and Jungles but they went quickly at my knockdown prices of $15 per common and $19 for the Grain lands.
Then I had a change of heart. With just two lands left to sell. I pulled them and lucky for me these were Grain generators.
Prices were moving up, and I had sold near the bottom. The same could be said for the 750,000 SPS I used to own, but that's a different story.

...'SPS, still over 1c, which is pitiful but I sold at the bottom. It's best to forget and move on'...
You can't dwell on your mistimed fuck-ups and it's all in the past now.
This Land 'game', because this is how I see it, has gotten very interesting.
With the advent of the new 'Aura' land type even more so. I have plenty of Magical and several Occupied lands but don't need the new potions as I no longer play Splinterlands.
I have no intention of creating these potions, and I don't intend to follow the herd and joining the 'race to the bottom' to dump them, but I am quite happy to sell the raw materials at an inflated rate so the rest of you can do it.

...'@beaker007's tools are great and this means I don't have to write my own to do a similar task'...
I have recently bought some Iron and Stone generating lands in regions that I previously never set foot in. Everyone wants to be self-supporting and thanks to @beaker007's tools we can easily see if this is the case.
Grain lands are now over $30 each and I managed to do a deal today with @steevc for a barren River, with no modifiers. Expensive you might think, but it happens to be in Briarwood where I have 14 other plots to support.

...'thank you @steevc, more auxillary food in Briarwood for the upcoming famine...'...
I would prefer the 'no tax' thank you.
Last week, I summarily purchased two Lakes, again both barren and without modifiers for the ridiculous price of $37 each. At the time there were many other lands, cheaper, cleared and with modifiers.
@lordfrost, the long-term holder and seller must have thought me quite mad.
These happened to be in Celestine, Tract 6 where I hold the Keep and 60% of the plots. Lakes are Grain generators, and I gain the tax from the harvest as well as providing extra support to the other types of lands.
Method to the madness, perhaps?

...'land is hideously expensive. You need the plots, decent monsters to clear them and a large stash of DEC to stake on each land. Reckon on $100 per land and you are getting close'...
I now have 4 Deserts to clear and 2 more Grain lands once @steevc sends me his Briarwood one. A part of me is still telling me to 'get the fuck out', but for the moment I am enjoying this 'rich mans' strategy game as that is what it is.
Except, I am far from being a Rich Man.
So long as Splinterlands commissions @cryptomancer to continue with his excellent work, I feel Land has hope and a future. For me, it's the land portion of Splinterlands that holds any interest for me.
Oh and... don't follow my advice; this is purely for entertainment purposes.

The plot was doing nothing for me, so good luck with it. I'll just power up more tomorrow.
Thanks for the deal. There were other Grain lands slightly more expensive, but cleared and with the pre-bought bonuses attached. I had my reasons for wanting yours as explained above.
Looks like I better hold onto my handful of grain lands then. I still have some wood producing too, but they aren't in the same region and I think I am going to eventually run out of grain to support them.
If the wood regions already have grain then you will be able to harvest but in time you will run dry. Then, it's either trade wood for grain using the trade hub or sending some over from your grain region (subject to tax).
Yeah, I was good, but then they made my other grain land a wood land and now I am going to be at a deficit.
Assuming you did not sell any grain before, you should have a stockpile. It will likely last for some time.
Yes, that is my hope!
good advice
I would say so.

Come get MOONed!
Land definitely got way more interesting now. My mistake was scattering my few plots for more than 1 region, so I got stuck with all the grain ones in a separate region. Will try to trade stone plots for wood ones in one of them, but I'm keeping all my grain ones... and aura lab is on the way too, let's see how feasible potion production is!
I barely understand monsters... I haven't touched on lands yet!
(Novice player, at best, anyway)
Nice tool, damn, I am so close ot it.
