It was news to me. I may have read there were progenitors, but I definitely didn't read they were still in existence and functioning peer to peer cryptocurrency.
Apparently eCash is a real project, still functioning with peer to peer transactions. But as for the Bitcoin Cash fork which named itself eCash, I don't know. Definitely late to the party and not knowledgeable of what came before them LOL

I understand what your saying, and I think you are correct.
There is saying; "...riding on the coat tails of another..."
It is like borrowing their fame and celebrity to build yours.
